Fresh Foot of Snow Blankets Northstar California
Snowmaking Efforts are Underway for a November 22, 2013 Resort Opening

Twelve inches of snow fell at Northstar’s summit overnight and, with 10 inches recorded at mid-mountain, mountain managers say the snow is setting a solid base for the ski season, still nearly a month away. Click here to see pictures of the new snow.

“Winter is here,” said Director of Mountain Operations Jim Larmore. “The conditions are allowing us to start making snow a little earlier than we’d planned to. We’re firing up the snowmaking guns today to compliment the natural snow this storm has brought so we can take full advantage of our systems.”

Northstar has the largest snowmaking system on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe,. Scheduled to open Friday, November 22, skiers and riders can look forward to the resort’s reliable early season conditions.

Snowfall is predicted to continue throughout today and tomorrow, with a winter storm advisory in effect throughout the day in the greater Lake Tahoe area.
