BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Oct. 21, 2013 —Breckenridge Ski Resortreleased the resort’s 2013/14 trail map to the public today on its Facebook page, featuring the new Peak 6 terrain and lifts, set to open this season. The much- anticipated release of the map gives the public their first complete look of all the Peak 6 trail names and two new lifts – the Zendo Chair and Kensho SuperChair, a high-speed, six pack topping out at 12,300 feet.
The resort announced the initial list of trail names earlier this month as part of a world-wide naming contest related to the theme of “Awaken Your Sixth Sense.” In all, 25 public submissions were chosen by the resort’s selection committee to become part of history on Peak 6. Over 1,800 people submitted names from 43 US states and 19 different countries, demonstrating the clear tie the public has with both Breckenridge as a resort and Peak 6. This public unveiling marks the first time that Breck has ever released a trail map design to the public ahead of the resort’s opening for their winter season.
PEAK 6 INAUGURAL SEASON
This year will be the inaugural season for the opening of Breck’s newest peak, Peak 6.The opening of Peak 6 represents the largest ski area terrain expansion in the past decade, and the first at Breckenridge since the Peak 7 expansion in 2002. The new terrain will be opened based on snowfall and more specific dates will be released as the season progresses.
