Keystone Resort to Break Guinness World Record in Honor of Kids Ski Free Offer
Keystone Resort leads the ski industry with the simplest, most valuable Kids Ski Free offer available, but the resort is attempting to be a leader in another category with a Guinness Book of World Records title. On Saturday, October 19, the resort will host an exciting event at Minneapolis’ famed Mall of America with the goal of breaking the World Record for “Most People Dancing with Hula Hoops.” Joined by two-time Olympian Kaylin Richardson, a Minnesota native, Keystone will gather kids of all ages and their families, for dancing with hula hoops to the “Hokey Pokey” in hopes of earning their place in history.

The record attempt will take place at the Mall on the second day of the annual Minnesota Ski and Snowboard Expo. Keystone will attempt to break the current record of 637 people dancing with hula hoops, a title held by a school in Sydney, Australia. Prizes and giveaways will occur throughout the event, which will begin with registration at 7 a.m., followed by the record attempt beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the North Parking Lot at the Mall of America. Those interested in joining the event can sign up online at http://keystonehulahoopworldrecord.eventbrite.com. Following the record attempt participants can join Keystone inside the Mall for the Ski and Snowboard Expo. Admission and parking at the Expo are free, and attendees will enjoy great deals on lift tickets and passes as well as an exciting trampoline show in the Mall rotunda.

This season Keystone introduced a new twist on its amazing Kids Ski Free offer, which gives any child 12 and under free lift tickets with any two or more night stay at one of the resort’s 800-plus accommodation options; if any other Kids Ski Free offer is simpler than Keystone’s, the resort will buy an entire school hula hoops. Holding to the belief that hoops should be for fun, not for jumping through, Keystone’s Kids Ski Free offer is available every day, all season long, including weekends and Holidays, a rarity in the ski industry. To qualify for the offer, families can choose from a range of hotel rooms and condo properties, perfect for accommodating any size group or budget. Many of Keystone’s lodging options also include extras such as full kitchens and in-unit washer/dryers, perfect for making any ski vacation easier and more affordable.

Located just 90 miles from Denver International Airport, Keystone is one of the most conveniently located major resorts in Colorado and is well known for its family-centric programming, including the addition of a new Family Ski Trail this season. The first of its kind in the industry, The Schoolyard will give families a place to enjoy time on-snow together while progressing their skiing and riding skills. Entertaining terrain features including “Tornado Ally”, “Rockin’ Rollers” and “Magic Moguls” will help newcomers to the sport learn to navigate varied terrain, while also giving experienced skiers and riders an interesting new challenge on Keystone’s three-mile beginner trail, Schoolmarm.

In attempting to break the hula-hoop world record, the resort aims to bring some of its playful energy to Minnesota. Every day at Keystone is an adventure with family-friendly events and activities ranging from the World’s Largest Snowfort to a fondue restaurant located at 11,444’ that includes a nightly rendition of the “Chicken Dance” played by the in-house polka band. With the addition of Kids Ski Free last season, Keystone truly became the most convenient and affordable big mountain vacation for families.

Keystone plans to begin snowmaking efforts October 15, and following the record attempt on October 19 the resort will open for the season on November 1.
