The resort’s bike event schedule is filling up quickly with downhill and cross-country race series events, as well as the return of the Tahoe Trail 100, a qualifying event for the Leadville 100. In addition, instructors at the resort’s signature Bike Academy are fine-tuning programs for those interested in getting into the sport or improving their skills.
“We continue to elevate the mountain biking experience at Northstar through trail development and with signature events drawing riders of all ability levels,” said Andy Buckley, director of resort skier services at Northstar. “Our trail crews have new features planned and are working to improve our trails. We have also expanded our popular cross-country bike race series to include Saturdays.”
PRO & AMATEUR EVENTS SCHEDULED
In addition to the return of Northstar’s cross-country and downhill bike race series events, beginning June 27 and June 30 respectively, the summer season is already filling up with a variety of amateur, professional and signature biking events, including:
- Gene Hamilton BetterRide Downhill Mountain Bike Camps – June 21-23 and July 26-28
- LUNA Chix Women’s XC Clinic with Katarina Nash – June 25
- Thomas Vanderham Bike Camp – July 16-18
- Tahoe Trail 100 (qualifying event for the Leadville Trail 100) – July 20

Northstar’s Mountain Bike and Hike Park is scheduled to open Friday, June 7, 2013, weather and conditions permitting, and will be open Friday through Sunday. Daily operations begin June 28 and, with the exception of one week of closure July 8-15 due to Tough Mudder, continue through August 18. Following that, the park will resume Friday through Sunday operations until October 6, excluding September 27-29 for a second Tough Mudder event weekend.
Helmets are required for all riders and can be rented along with bikes and other equipment at the resort or online in advance. In addition, all rentals will come standard with a full face helmet and gloves.
Daily lift tickets will be available for purchase for $48 and discounted multi-day lift ticket options are available. For those who want to ride all season, Mountain Bike Park season passes are available now for $309 and can be purchased at the Tickets & Season Pass office in the Village at Northstar, by calling 1.800.466.6784, or online at www.NorthstarCalifornia.com. After May 31, 2013, season passes will be available for $329.
With the opening of the Mountain Bike Park, Northstar will also resume its popular scenic chairlift rides for sightseeing and hiking. Daily tickets will be available for purchase in the Village at Northstar at the Tickets & Season Pass office. Lifts will operate for scenic lift rides and hiking during the same hours of operation as the Mountain Bike Park.
