Signature Events Return to Northstar California Resort This Summer
Mountain Biking Events, Food & Wine Events and Two Tough Mudder Challenges Stop in North Lake Tahoe This Season
 
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Summer 2013 – The summer season heats up at Northstar with a variety of returning signature events including the resort’s popular downhill and cross-country mountain bike races, the Tahoe Trail 100 (a Leadville 100 qualifying event), the annual Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival, Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival, and two Tough Mudder challenges. The summer season kicks off May 17 with the opening of the Northstar Golf Course, and runs through early October. Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival – July 6
A summer favorite, the Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival will return to the Village at Northstar Friday and Saturday, July 5 and 6. A Brewmaster Dinner kicks off the event Friday evening.  Saturday will feature more than 30 regional breweries, performances by popular bluegrass bands, non-alcoholic beverages, a tasty BBQ, special children’s treats and outdoor games. This event is fun for all ages.
 
Tough Mudder – July 13-14 & Sept. 28-29
Northstar will host two Tough Mudder events – July 13-14 and September 28-29. Tough Mudder events are 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test all-around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, more than 700,000 inspiring participants, and more than $5 million dollars raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world.
 
Tahoe Trail 100 – July 20
Participants can earn one of 75 coveted starting positions in the 2013 Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race during the Tahoe Trail 100 on Saturday, July 20 at Northstar.  The challenging and picturesque course will feature two 30-mile loops that circle Northstar and the surrounding areas with overlooks into the Martis Valley and Lake Tahoe.

Autumn Food & Wine Festival – Sept. 6-8
Foodies are invited to enjoy three full days of cooking seminars and demonstrations, culinary competitions, wine tastings, and more at the 28th Annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival in the Village at Northstar.
 
Northstar will also host ongoing and weekly summer events throughout the season. Tahoe Star Tours will return, featuring themed nights, telescopic viewing and laser tours of the night sky with Tony Berendsen, star guide and president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition. The resort’s popular Retro Skate Nights will also return Tuesdays, as will monthly Wine Walks throughout the Village at Northstar and the resort’s cross-country and downhill mountain bike race series.
