KEYSTONE, Colo. — November 28, 2012 —Keystone Resort announced today that its powerful snowmaking system has once again allowed for additional terrain opening on the mountain. The resort will add almost 50 acres for the upcoming weekend, providing skiers and riders more than 230 skiable acres, the most terrain available in Summit County, CO. Flying Dutchman, an intermediate trail, the Discovery learning area, focused on beginners and Ski School participants, and the top portion of the Silver Spoon beginner trail will all make their season debut by Friday morning. That terrain will join the eight acres the resort added Wednesday in the A51 Terrain Park, featuring three medium jumps in Park Lane.
Keystone has increased available terrain weekly since the resort opened for the season on November 2, with tremendous efforts from its snowmaking and grooming teams. The resort now boasts more than 65% of its beginner terrain open, and more than 15% of its intermediate terrain. Terrain Park enthusiasts will find more than 30 features and now three jumps in The Alley and Park Lane sections of A51, serviced by the Park’s designated chairlift. As pro skiers and riders prepare for the upcoming competition season, A51 is once again serving as the early season training ground, with pros making daily appearances to hone their skills on Keystone’s offerings.
On-and-off the mountain, a number of Keystone’s family activities are also now open for the season, including snow tubing, ice skating, mountaintop dining, daily Kidtopia programming, the Keystone aglow holiday light installation and weekly Riperoo Parades.
Keystone continues to offer one of the best family ski experiences in the industry, bolstered by its new Kids Ski Free offer. Any child, 12 and under, staying two or more nights in a Keystone owned/operated lodging unit will receive free lift tickets for the duration of their stay. Keystone’s offer is as simple as childhood itself, without any red tape or restrictions. There are no blackout dates, giving families the freedom to take advantage of the special deal on weekends and throughout holiday periods, a rarity in the ski industry. Reservations may be made at Keystoneresort.com or by calling 800-328-1323.
