Thanksgiving Fun Abounds at Keystone Resort

KEYSTONE, Colo. — November 16, 2012 —With Thanksgiving less than a week away, Keystone Resort planned a Holiday weekend filled with family-friendly fun, making it the perfect Thanksgiving destination for your family’s celebration.

On-mountain, Keystone will have more than 100 acres of skiable terrain, the most open terrain currently available in Summit County, Colorado. Additional terrain is expected to open prior to Thanksgiving Day, as cold overnight temperatures continue to allow Keystone’s powerful snowmaking system to work its magic. Guests will also be able to enjoy night skiing, which kicks-off Wednesday, November 21, and more on-snow fun will be offered at Keystone’s mountaintop tubing hill, which will also make its season debut on Wednesday.

Keystone’s famed A51 terrain park, ranked among the countries best, will move to its permanent home in the resort’s Packsaddle Bowl on Wednesday, November 21. Skiers and riders will enjoy additional box and rail features in this expanded park area. The resort also plans to open the designated A51 lift, allowing park enthusiasts quick laps.

Off the mountain, families will enjoy the start of the season’s Kidtopia programming with 80’s-themed Tubing on Wednesday night, Meet and Greet with Keystone’s Ski Patrol Avalanche Dogs on Thursday, the Riperoo parade with special s’more treats on Saturday, and Keystone’s house DJ at Dercum Square ice rink on Sunday. Keystone’s Kidtopia programming is expanding from special event weekends to daily programming all season long, giving kids something to look forward to every afternoon. Families can also enjoy the new Welcome Winter Carnival on Saturday, November 24. This free event will feature face painters, balloon artists, carnival games, bounce houses and great live music from Chris Thompson and Coral Creek. Ice skating will begin at both the Keystone Lake and Dercum Square ice rink in the coming days, giving families two options for Holiday skating fun. Holiday magic will be visible throughout Keystone’s Villages with the annual Keystone aglow holiday light installation, beginning Thanksgiving Day.

With so much to do, time in the kitchen will be limited, so Keystone’s many dining outlets are prepared to do the cooking. Thanksgiving meals can be enjoyed at Bighorn Steakhouse, the Alpenglow Stube, Keystone Ranch Restaurant, Der Fondue Chessel, the Ski Tip Lodge or Black Bear Grill. For those looking for a little adventure with their Holiday meal, Keystone’s wagon ride dinners will be open for the season Saturday, November 17.

All of this Holiday fun can be enjoyed at great rates that include the newest family programming at Keystone: Kids Ski Free, plus up to 33% off lodging. All season, children 12 and under ski for free when staying two or more nights in a Keystone owned/operated lodging unit. This amazing deal is available on all weekends and Holidays throughout the winter, with no blackout dates or other restrictions.
