BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Nov. 9, 2012 —Winter Is Back as Breckenridge Ski Resort opened its 51st season today at 9 a.m., with Ullr, the mythical Norse God of Snow, joining guests on the first chair of the season.  Sunshine abounded under brilliant blue skies, which aren’t expected to last long, as the first major Colorado snowstorm of the season is expected to hit Breck starting tonight.

Enthusiastic guests gathered early at Peak 8 to celebrate, as Breck hosted an Opening Day party that included free giveaways of Veuve Cliquot champagne, free Ski Hill Grill signature cinnamon rolls to the first 2,000 guests, and a special dedication including releasing of doves to honor our nation’s veterans as part of Veterans Day Weekend. Skiers and riders are now hitting the slopes for a few runs, and participating in festivities all day, including free rides on the GoldRunner Coaster.

Breckenridge Ski Resort requires all skiers and riders to observe all posted signs and warnings. Closed trails may contain hazards due to limited natural snow coverage and snow making operations. Please keep off closed trails and out of closed areas for safety reasons.
