North Lake Tahoe Resort Offers Summer Activities and Family Fun for All Ages
With Activities Priced at $10 or Less, Northstar California™ Resort is a Summer Favorite
 
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Summer 2012 – As the temperatures rise and the seasons change, Northstar is gearing up for the return of summertime activities in the mountains. From guided hikes to roller skating, geocaching, tennis and fly fishing instruction, Northstar is a ‘must visit’ this summer.
 
For the value oriented outdoor enthusiast, Northstar offers activities for $10 or less that include:
  • Roller Skating – Retro Skate Nights (Tuesdays)
Guests are invited to lace up their skates and get their groove on at the Village at Northstar’s 9,000 square foot outdoor skating rink. Throughout the summer months, guests are invited to take a spin or relax and take in the action while sipping a specialty cocktail prepared at one of the two outdoor Cabana Bars surrounding the rink from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. daily. Retro Skate Night Tuesdays feature 70s and 80s music and some of the best attire since that era!   • Scenic Lift Rides for Sightseeing and Hiking
Visit Northstar during the summer and hop on the Gondola, Tahoe Zephyr Express or Vista Express chairlifts for a scenic ride to the top of the mountain. Whether you are looking for the perfect view of Lake Tahoe, a picturesque picnic spot, local wildlife or some of the native flora and fauna, you’ll find it all here. Ages 13+ enjoy the ride and hike for just $10, and complimentary access is provided for children ages 12 and under. Four-legged friends also are welcome on leash.
  • Outdoor Games in the Village at Northstar
Guests of all ages are invited to partake in oversized versions of gaming favorites including chess, checkers, tether ball, stacking blocks, horseshoes, bean bag toss and more. Complimentary outdoor games are set up throughout the Village at Northstar during the summer months for guests’ entertainment.
  • Bucket of Range Balls for $4
Guests are invited to practice their swing at the driving range at Northstar’s 18-hole golf course. For just $4, aspiring golfers can tear into a small bucket of golf balls, then consider playing the course and enjoying the earliest twilight golf rates in North Lake Tahoe starting at 1 p.m. daily.
 
Those looking for more of an active experience in the outdoors won’t be disappointed. Other summer activities taking place at the resort include:
 
Geocaching
Kids and adults of all ages are invited to participate in Northstar’s Geocaching Adventure during operation of the mountain biking and hiking park. A high tech treasure hunt that is sure to test terrain and intellectual prowess, guests are invited to search for caches hidden within the resort’s hiking trail network on the mountain using GPS coordinates. Sound easy? The GPS may bring you within 30 feet of the cache, then it’s up to you to look around logs, tree stumps and boulders. GPS units are available for rent through The North Face retail store in the Village at Northstar for just $15. A hiking ticket is required to participate – just $10 for ages 13+, free for kids 12 and under.
 
Fly Fishing
Those who want to learn the art of fly fishing are invited to experience Sawmill Lake, a secluded 10-acre reservoir stocked with hundreds of bright, fighting rainbow trout that is reserved for catch-and-release fly fishing only. Perfect for float tubing or shoreline stalking, fishing at Sawmill Lake is limited to four rods at a time and reservations are required.
 
Tennis
Kids and adults interested in learning or improving their tennis technique will love Northstar’s ten tennis courts located among the pines. Professional instructors offer private lessons, as well as 2-day and 5-day camps, tournaments, exhibitions and other special events.
 
And, for those who want to get creative or learn something new, interactive opportunities also exist in the Village at Northstar at participating retail stores. Guests are invited to design their own candles at The Villager Candle Shop, make their own jewelry at Farrah Rale, or paint pottery at All Fired Up!. Instruction is available for many of these activities, and groups are welcome.
 
Kids’ Adventure Club
With the addition of the Kids’ Adventure Club for ages 4-12, parents can enjoy a guilt-free round of golf, day of mountain biking, or shopping in the Village at Northstar. The Kids’ Adventure Club is offered daily June15 through early September and provides fun, interactive learning experience through nature hikes, games and activities. The cost to participate is $69 per child, per day for a program that runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes kid-friendly lunch and snacks.
 
Resort guests are welcome to join yoga and tai chi classes offered regularly by Balance Holistic Health, take to the sky on the Apex Bungy Trampoline, participate in the Ropes Challenge and enjoy live music on weekends in the Village at Northstar. Northstar lodging guests also have use of the Northstar Property Owners Association Recreation Center featuring 10 outdoor tennis courts, swimming pools, saunas, spas, an arcade and more. And, for those who just want to relax while on vacation, Northstar also offers a variety of unique shops, restaurants and gathering spots to unwind at in the Village at Northstar.
