Breck Spring Fever Festival Continues this Week!
-5 ‘til 5 Terrain Park Happy Hour starts Friday
-2nd Annual Spring Fever Chili Cook-off on Sunday
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — March 27, 2012 — Breck’s Spring Fever festival really heats up this week with the second annual Chili Cook-off, the return of popular 5 ‘til 5 terrain park happy hours, The 5 Peaks mountaineering race, and more. This is the second week of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s month-long Spring Fever Festival, which will run through Closing Day on April 14 and features more than 40 events both on the mountain and in town. Spring Fever is certainly heating up, and we remain 100% open, receiving up to ten inches of snow in the past seven days!
Here’s some of this week’s featured Spring Fever events:
Thursday, March 21st
Breckenridge Film Premiere of Chasing Ice - Riverwalk Center, 7p.m.
Chasing Iceis the story of one man’s mission to document changes in Earth’s ice deposits due to fluctuations in the climate. This event is a fundraiser for Team Breck. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; show starts at 7:00p.m. Admission is $14 per person.
Friday, March 22nd
Breck 5 ‘til 5 Terrain Park Happy Hours
Fridays: March 22, March 29, and April 12 from 2p.m. - 5p.m.
Join us every Friday afternoon during Spring Fever at Peak 8, where we'll be running the 5 Chair late until 5 p.m.! This means extra access to the Freeway and Park Lane terrain parks, music from DJ DC, plus FREE hot dogs and prizes and products courtesy of Spring Fever sponsors Red Bull. This Friday will feature jam style contests where we’ll be giving away season passes and other great prizes.
Adult Park & Pipe Camp - March 22-24
This weekend-long park and pipe camp is just for adults who want to learn from the best coaches at Breck! The camp includes a welcome reception, healthy breakfasts, experienced coaches to cater to all levels, group lunches, aprés ski activities, celebratory dinner, giveaways, swag and more! These camps will create lasting memories and lifelong friendships. Advanced Intermediate level required. Saturday, March 23rd
The 5 Peaks Mountaineering Race
T5P is North America's highest ski mountaineering race starting at 9,600’ and reaching elevations over 13,000’. Teams of two will ascend approximately 8,000 vertical feet over five separate ascents (Peaks 10, 9, 8, 7, 6) in the Ten Mile Range in and outside the Breckenridge Ski Resort! Kids Park and Pipe Camp (Ages 7-13) - March 23-24
Breck is an industry leader in terrain parks, and our top-certified freestyle instructors will guarantee a safe and fun camp for kids ages 7-13. Available for both skiers and riders, this camp offers small class size; group lunches, after skiing fun activities, photos, and lots of free stuff! Intermediate and above levels required. Sunday, March 24th
Ripperoo's Mini World Cup - 11a.m. – 2p.m., Peak 8
Ripperoo will be hosting his annual race on Swinger at Peak 8; at this fun race, everyone’s a winner! Just show up at the start gate at any time throughout the day, fill out the registration form, race, and win a special prize from Ripperoo! For kids of all ages who can ski or snowboard; lift ticket is required.
Spring Fever Chili Cook-off – 12p.m. – 2p.m. at Sevens
Sevens restaurant at the base of Peak 7 will be heating up as the top chefs from Breckenridge Ski Resort face off against each other to see whose chili recipe is the best! Join the chefs at the Sevens Patio starting at noon to indulge in all the chili you can handle and vote for your favorite recipe. Cost is $10 per person; tickets will be available on site at the event.
