Beaver Creek Tough Mudder Confirmed for June 9-10, 2012
Beaver Creek, Colo. March 14, 2012 –Beaver Creek Resort today announced that for a second year it will host Tough Mudder on the slopes June 9-10, 2012. Following the success of last year’s event which drew more than 25,000 participants and spectators, spirited competitors will return to conquer the event’s notorious 10-12 mile obstacle course with 25 features designed by British Special Forces and a start elevation of 8,100 feet at the base of Beaver Creek.
Combining the resort’s mountain lifestyle complete with legendary guest service, a championship golf course, three rejuvenating spas rated among Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 100 Spas and award-winning cuisine for refueling, there’s no better place to test one’s toughness and push mental and physical limits, among a bonded group of like-minded souls.
“We’re incredibly excited to host another Tough Mudder and welcome back the thousands of guests who will test themselves in what is considered to be one of the toughest endurance challenges around the globe,” said Tim Baker, executive director, Beaver Creek Resort Company. “Together with our great partners at the U.S. Forest Service we’ve developed a course that is not only very spectator friendly, but also creatively incorporates Tough Mudder’s obstacles in some new locations higher up on the mountain this year.”
The 2012 course has been designed in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and will take participants up to Spruce Saddle Lodge located at 10,200 feet. Tough Mudder’s signature obstacles will be incorporated across the mountain’s natural rugged terrain. Spectators will be able to ride the Centennial Express Lift to Spruce Saddle to see friends and family participating in the event. Registration for Tough Mudder Beaver Creek 2012 is now underway and is expected to sell out. Visit www.toughmudder.com. The event also raises funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, which is nearing $3 million in contributions to the organization. Tough Mudder operates under a special use permit from the White River National Forest and is an equal opportunity service provider.
