Beaver Creek Loves Kids and Teens Returns with the 1st Annual Prezfest this President’s Day Celebration Week
Beaver Creek, Colo., Feb. 13, 2012 –
Beaver Creek Resort presents the 1st annual PrezFest celebration this President’s Day week as part of the popular family program,
Beaver Creek Loves Kids. PrezFest will take place from Feb. 18- 25, 2012 and will be a celebration of our nation’s presidents and also Mardi Gras, with a special celebration on Fat Tuesday. The weeklong event will feature historical elements and decoration, and interactive family events and activities that are designed to animate Beaver Creek Village with President’s Day.
Celebrating President’s Day in proper fashion, Beaver Creek will host historical characters on the Plaza nightly, have a special Torch-light Ski Down and a kids’ President-For-A-Day Facebook contest for kids ages 14 and under. Mardi Gras celebrations kick off Tuesday, Feb. 21 with a special edition of the Beaver Creek’s Kids’ Parade.
Beaver Creek Resort Company, along with Blue Creek Productions, are the creators of the PrezFest wonders that will be showcased in the village. One of the featured attractions includes the Symbols of America Ice Menagerie at the main fountain area where guests will find a collection of fun, themed ice sculptures designed by Vail-based ice sculptor Paul Wertin.
Beaver Creek Loves Kids PrezFest also will feature a great lineup of family events and activities including Disco Skate Nights, figure skating performances, fireworks and more.

Event Descriptions
Beaver Creek “President For A Day” Contest: Kids ages 14 and under can post a picture on the Beaver Creek Facebook page explaining why he or she should be President of Beaver Creek. The candidate with the most “likes” will serve as President of Beaver Creek on Monday, Feb. 20. The President will choose his or her own Vice President and they both receive special privileges like Skiing Secret Service, first chair, free dinner in the Village and more.

American Characters: Join characters from American history as they lead the Kids' Parade from the Covered Bridge to the Grand Staircase in Beaver Creek Plaza. Watch as they skate around the ice rink and delight the entire family with appearances throughout Beaver Creek Plaza.
Kids’ Parade: Kids can join the American Characters in a parade from the Covered Bridge to the Grand Staircase in Beaver Creek Plaza. And don’t miss the special Mardi Gras Kids’ Parade on Fat Tuesday.
“Torches of Fire” Juggling Show: Watch in awe as jugglers toss sticks of fire high into the air, lighting up Beaver Creek Plaza with a warm and exciting glow.
Family FunFest Carnival: A village-style street fair complete with music, games, caricature art and fun.
Figure Skating Shows: Come see an outstanding figure skating performance featuring some of the best skaters in Colorado as they bring the ice to life.
Ice Sculpture Demonstrations: Observe Paul Wertin, the amazing ice artist, as he transforms a plain block of hardened ice into an incredible work of art before your eyes.
Disco Skate Night: Enjoy the music as you and your family dance and skate around the ice rink. Keep your eye out for some of the American Characters who will join in as you skate the night away.
Drums of the Mountains: Peaks Rhythms packs in their drums, but everyone has a chance to pound on these percussion instruments. Don’t miss out on your chance to become a part of this drum ceremony.
American Jukebox Skate Night: Enjoy the music of the decades as you skate around the ice rink to tunes from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
Thursday Night Lights: Be a part of the tradition and ski down Beaver Creek Mountain illuminating the snow with glow sticks. Afterwards enjoy a spectacular fireworks display over the village. This event is intended for intermediate and advanced skiers and all participants must register at Children's Ski & Snowboard School. (970) 754-5464.
Family Friday Afternoon Club: During après ski learn about safety on the slopes with Ski Patrol and their Avalanche Rescue Dogs. Meet outside of McCoy’s, near the base of Centennial Express Chairlift, play an avalanche “grenade” game and enjoy food and drink specials from McCoy’s.
Beaver Creek Loves Teens Too: Teens take the mountain by day and when the sun goes down, Beaver Creek provides three evening activities just for teens. Activities include a Twilight Snowshoe & Pizza Party, Tubing at Vail’s Adventure Ridge and a Ski & Snowboard Trick Class at the Anti-Gravity Center. Register at
