TRUCKEE, Calif. – Dec. 8, 2011 – With the countdown to the holiday season officially underway, Northstar California Resort in North Lake Tahoe is celebrating the season and will welcome Santa Claus at a number of its holiday events this month. Guests are also invited to ring in the New Year in style at the Village at Northstar’s annual Fire & Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration.

Noel Nights – Dec 8 & 15
This evening, guests of all ages are invited to enjoy Noel Nights in the Village at Northstar from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring holiday carolers, complimentary ice skate rentals (with donation of a non-perishable food item to benefit Community Christmas), hot cocoa, s’mores, photos with Santa, one-horse sleigh rides and other activities.

Tonight’s event will feature a special ice skating performance and music by the North Tahoe High School Jazz Band. And, on December 15, guests ages 21+ are invited to participate in a holiday wine walk throughout the Village at Northstar.

Holiday Festivities – Dec 17-24
The Village at Northstar will be festive for the holidays, complete with ice skating on the 9,000 square foot outdoor rink, live music daily on the Village Stage, and visits by Santa for the kids at locations throughout the Village from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. December 17-24.

One-horse sleigh rides on December 17, 18, 22 and 23, daily parades featuring Ripperoo, the Vail Resorts mascot, and other activities are scheduled throughout the season.

Fire & Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration – Dec 31
An annual celebration for all ages, Northstar’s Fire & Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration takes place in the Village at Northstar throughout the day and into the evening, with a DJ and activities including ice skating, live music featuring Led Zeppelin 2 – The Live Experience, drink specials, s’mores, and a spectacular fireworks show at 9pm (East Coast celebration).

The most economical way for skiers and riders to enjoy both Northstar and Heavenly this season is to take advantage of the Lowest Price Guarantee on lift tickets. When purchased seven days in advance online at snow.com/lifttickets or through Vail Resorts Central Reservations, guests are guaranteed the price will be the lowest available for that day – and significantly lower over the holiday period – compared to the window rate.

On-site lodging is available at Northstar this season, with lift and lodging packages starting at just $115 per person, per night (based on double occupancy in a studio condo; other room types available). Some restrictions apply.
