Beaver Creek Opens New Rose Bowl Lift on Natural Snow and Boosts Terrain to 818 on Saturday, Dec. 10

Beaver Creek, Colo. – Dec. 8, 2011 – Everything’s coming up roses at Beaver Creek and on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 the much-anticipated new high speed quad Rose Bowl lift (#4) will make its debut. Intermediate and advanced level skiers and riders can take advantage of the great snow conditions preserved by recent cold weather on Ripsaw, Cataract and Stone Creek Meadows, which will open for the season on natural snow. Ski patrol reports knee-deep fresh snow and claims, “it’s first-come, first-served fresh tracks” when the ropes drop. In addition to opening Rose Bowl, ski patrol will open several other trails, increasing the resort’s skiable acres to 818 acres with 58 trails on Saturday.

The Rose Bowl lift grand opening ceremony will take place at the top of the new lift on Saturday morning. Following the mountain’s opening at 9 a.m., skiers and snowboarders can make their way to the new Rose Bowl lift and ride to the top for the ceremony. Commemorative Rose Bowl lift pins will be handed out to the first 500 people in attendance, an EpicMix photographer will be on hand to capture the experience and cocoa and cookies will be handed out.

The new Rose Bowl lift, built by Doppelmayr as a side-load chair, transports 2,400 people per hour and the new ride time is just over five minutes. The lift transforms the skiing experience in Rose Bowl by allowing for faster lift rides for expert powder seekers who cycle through Stone Creek Chutes and it also better connects the terrain between Centennial Express lift (#6) and Cinch Express lift (#8). New this year, there will be more grooming in Rose Bowl on some of the black diamond runs, creating more variety on the eastern side of the mountain.

On Saturday Beaver Creek’s terrain will increase to 818 acres and the Lower and Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express Lifts (#15, #18) along with the Riverfront Gondola (#7) will open, with 17 total lifts operating. Ski patrol will open several more trails on the main mountain and in Bachelor Gulch. The additional lifts and acreage offer all levels a variety of trails including Centennial, Assay, Leav the Beav, and more. For details on which trails will be open, visit www.beavercreek.com, m.beavercreek.com on your mobile phone or get the daily grooming report on Twitter @bcgrooming.

Zoom Room Terrain Park will open later on Friday, Dec. 9 and contains 22 medium-sized features including boxes, rails, logs and stalls. The park also is home to a pack of three jumps and delivers what the park designers are describing as “one of the best flow through parks they’ve created yet.”

McCoy Park opens for the season on Saturday featuring 12-15 km of groomed trails. Visit the Nordic Center at the base of Strawberry Park for information, rentals, lift tickets and more.

Beano’s and Zach’s Cabins open for dinner service on Friday evening including a snowcat-pulled sleigh ride to the Cabins on the mountain and providing five-course gourmet meals. Reservations for Beano’s may be made by calling 970-754-3463 or online at www.beanoscabinbeavercreek.com. For Zach’s reservations call 970-754-6575. Mamie’s Mountain Grill opens for the season on Saturday serving lunches at the top of Bachelor Gulch. Dinners at SaddleRidge begin on Saturday evening.
