North Lake Tahoe Resort to Offer 40 Acres, Seven Trails, and Snow Depths of 18-24 Inches for Opening Weekend
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Nov. 15, 2011 – Offering skiers and riders access to some of the best early season conditions in Lake Tahoe, Northstar California Resort will open Friday, November 18 with snow depths of 18-24 inches and access to 40 acres of terrain featuring seven beginner and intermediate trails, as well as terrain park features.
“We look forward to welcoming skiers and riders back to Northstar for the winter season, starting this Friday,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Northstar California Resort. “Our snowmaking efforts have been extremely successful so far this season, and we will offer some of the best early season snow conditions around the lake. And, to keep the momentum going, it looks like Mother Nature will lend us a hand with the possibility of snow over the weekend.”
The resort will kick off the season with The Big Springs Express Gondola, Highlands Gondola, Arrow Express, Vista Express and The Big Easy quad chairlifts operating daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A variety of terrain park features including boxes, rails and jumps will be set up for freestyle enthusiasts to enjoy, and early season lift tickets will be available for $69 for adults, $52 for teens (age 13-18) and seniors (age 65+), and $41 for children (age 5-12; under five ski for free).
Opening weekend will also feature live music on the Village Stage from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as the resort’s first EpicMixer event on Friday afternoon from 2:30 p .m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Big Springs Day Lodge. The EpicMixer is open to season passholders and those who’ve purchased a lift ticket on opening day to learn more about EpicMix, Vail Resorts’ popular ski and snowboard application that allows skiers and riders to track their vertical feet and earn digital pins for accomplishments achieved on the mountain. Skiers and riders can also get assistance activating their EpicMix account and enjoy food and drink specials.
Beginning opening day, ski and snowboard lessons will be offered for adults and children through the resort’s Ski & Snowboard School. Rental and demo equipment will be available, and food and beverage locations at mid-mountain will be open. Shopping, dining and ice skating (weather permitting) will resume daily operations in the Village at Northstar beginning on Friday.
For those interested in skiing and riding all season long, the Tahoe Value Season Pass is available for purchase starting at $389 for a limited time. Some restrictions apply, and other pass types are available. In addition, to receive the guaranteed lowest daily lift ticket rates, guests looking to save may purchase discounted lift tickets in advance online.
