Keystone, Colo. — Nov. 2, 2011 — With last week’s storm that delivered more than seven inches at Keystone and a fresh coating of new snow today, Keystone Resort is ready to roll out the white carpet to welcome guests to the start of the 2011-2012 season on Friday, Nov. 4. Today’s storm delivered up to eight inches of snow to Beaver Creek, Vail and Breckenridge, which will help resort crews prepare for their November opening days.
Thanks to the new snow and the round-the-clock efforts of Keystone’s snowmaking, grooming and mountain operations team, Keystone Resort will be opening on Friday with top-to-bottom skiing and riding on Spring Dipper and River Run trails, all serviced by the River Run Gondola. For beginners, the resort is offering two learning areas, one at the top of the mountain and one at the Gondola mid-station. In addition, Keystone is debuting one the best and biggest early season terrain parks with 25 new features, all accessed by its own chairlift.
To commemorate Keystone’s co-founders, Max and Edna Dercum, the resort is renaming opening day, “Dercum Day,” and has a series of events planned, as well as a special dedication.
With more snow forecasted for this weekend, why not stay overnight? Keystone is offering special lodging deals for season pass holders from $79 per night. The room also comes with a free cookie when you check in to Keystone lodging. The free cookie program will be extended throughout the season at Keystone for all lodging guests. Kids at Keystone will be treated with a new Keystone Kidtopia Treasure Chest chock full of sunglasses, silly bands, stickers and other “treasures” when they check in to their Keystone lodging all season.
