ROSE HALL, Jamaica, Oct. 20, 2011 - Thousands of discerning travel professionals cast their votes in an online ballot declaring Half Moon
Jamaica’s Leading Golf Resort for the fifth year in a row at the annual World Travel Awards gala.
Held last evening in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the global travel and tourism industry, reveal the ‘best of the best’ in the world in the travel industry.
“To be singled out as the leading golf resort in Jamaica is an achievement we hold in high regard. It speaks to the tireless work of our team to maintain and improve the resort, deliver impeccable service and create an experience that entice our guests to return year after year,” said Aram Zerunian, Half Moon’s general manager.
Dubbed “one of the finest walking courses in the Caribbean”, the Half Moon Golf Course boasts improved features for all levels of golf. Renovated in 2006 by renowned golf course architect Roger Rulewich, the course features added yardage, newly-aligned and multiple-tee complexes as well as repositioned fairway and greenside bunkers. The Half Moon Golf Academy also offers a wide range of instructional programmes for golfers of all levels.
The latest accolade comes on the heels of other international awards Half Moon has received since the start of the year. Earlier this week, the resort was voted among the top 40 Caribbean resorts by Condé Nast Traveller readers.
World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry.
