New Jobs Created at Northstar Resort Result from Capital Improvement Projects Underway

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Sept. 29, 2011 – In advance of the winter season, Northstar Resort is gearing up for its annual hiring fairs, and will be hiring more service-oriented, professional employees to fill a variety of full- and part-time seasonal positions this year than in previous years, as a result of the $30 million in capital improvement projects currently underway at the resort.
The addition of the Zephyr Lodge, Promised Land Express chairlift, new snowmaking and new retail stores in the Village at Northstar will require the hiring of even more staff members (in both full- and part-time capacities) in addition to positions the resort annually hires for such as lift operations, lift maintenance, food and beverage, ski patrol, Ski & Snowboard School, product sales and service, vehicle maintenance, security, lodging, retail operations and more. On average, the resort employs a total of approximately 1,900 seasonal and year-round employees during the winter season.

Ski & Snowboard Instructor & Race Team/Services Hiring Fair – October 1
Hosted in the Village at Northstar on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 8am-1:45pm, this hiring fair is designed for applicants interested in working for Northstar Resort’s Race and/or Ski & Snowboard School. Skiing and non-skiing positions will include full-time, part-time and holiday/on-call shifts.
Due to previous years’ success, the Northstar Resort Ski & Snowboard School will again offer training opportunities including dry-land, pre-season training for ski and snowboard instructor candidates. This training includes aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, functional movement screen analysis and corrective exercise, and PSIA and AASI pre-certification prep and clinics. The cost is $99 per participant, and includes 12 training days that run from 9:30am to 3pm over a six week period. Resort-wide Hiring Fair – October 22
Taking place in the Village at Northstar on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 8am-1:45pm, the resort-wide hiring fair will cater to applicants interested in a variety of resort positions including lift operations, food & beverage, rental services, retail, security, parking, Village grounds, Ski &Snowboard School, product sales and service, and transportation. Positions will include full-time, part-time and holiday/on-call shifts. The ability to ski or snowboard is not required for all available jobs.
