Hot Events, Hot Deals and Plenty of Sun to go with April Skiing and Riding in Colorado and Lake Tahoe
Mark your calendars for April skiing and riding in Colorado and California. With longer and warmer days, record-setting snow, fun events and great lodging deals, it’s time to savor spring skiing in Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe.
Record Setting Snow Conditions in Colorado and California
There’s been record-setting snowfall this season in Colorado, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone have had the highest year to date snowfall in the last 10 years. Plus, Breckenridge and Vail are open until April 24 this year.
It’s been a great snow year in Lake Tahoe also. Northstar-at-Tahoe has broken a 25-year snow record this season. The resort has received 466 inches season-to-date and has surpassed the average season snowfall by more than 100 inches.

Breckenridge Spring Fever, April 1-24
Breck Spring Fever will kick off the first weekend of April and will conclude on Easter Sunday, April 24, the final operating day of the ski resort this season. Northstar-at-Tahoe Spring It On, April 2
Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort will welcome spring with its annual Spring It On festivities that include a pond skim contest, 80’s dress-up day, infinity box contest set up by the resort’s terrain park team, and more! Live music will also be offered on the deck of the Big Springs Day Lodge at mid-mountain from 1pm-3pm and on the Village Stage from 3pm-6pm. For more information visit
Taste of Vail, April 7-9
In its 21st year, the Taste of Vail is the nation’s premier spring food and wine festival, held at several venues throughout the ski resort. During the three-day event upwards of 5,000 people are able to experience the valley’s world-class restaurants, fine wine from top wineries around the globe, interactive seminars, auction and dance, the Colorado Lamb Cook Off, après ski tasting and the popular mountaintop picnic at the top of Vail Mountain. Keystone River Run Rocks, April 9
Come ski Keystone for a day and then stay for a free concert featuring Robert Earl Keen from 4-7 p.m. A kids’ game zone will keep the young ones busy while the music plays. Heavenly Spring Loaded 2011, April 9-16
Heavenly’s annual spring break skiing and riding celebration is back, filled with California sunshine, Heavenly’s famous spring conditions, the infamous pond skimming contest…plus much, much more. Off the mountain there’s non-stop action with world-class entertainment, après-ski parties, and the South Shore’s 24-hour nightlife. Highlights for this year’s event include the Gunbarrel 25 hosted by skiing legend Glen Plake, the finals of the Stateline Showdown amateur slopestyle competition and two rounds of Heavenly's infamous pond-skimming championships! Beaver Creek Vintage Ski Fest & Race, April 16
Dust off the ol’ skis and sign up for a vintage ski race. Guests are encouraged to dress in vintage wool skiing attire and use old wood or metal skis to compete for top honors on the Hay Meadow race course, a throwback to the 1940s complete with canvas competitor bibs, hand-painted banners, natural bamboo gates, an old fashioned scoreboard and more.
