KEYSTONE, Colo. – Oct. 26, 2010 – For the past few days, a series of powerful storms have pounded the Colorado Rocky Mountains delivering 13 inches at Vail, 11 inches at Breckenridge and 8 inches at Beaver Creek for the 48-hour mid-mountain snow totals with almost two feet (20 inches) falling at Keystone’s North Peak Mountain over the past week. And, Mother Nature isn’t done yet. According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. MDT today for the Central Mountains of Colorado. So much has fallen that Colorado Department of Transportation is closing a stretch of Interstate 70 tonight near Keystone and Breckenridge to clear the roads.
