ACTIVITIES:
Chairlift Rides: Enjoy daytime scenic chairlift rides on the Centennial Express Chairlift to Spruce Saddle for a scenic lunch and outdoor activities such as disc golf. Kids 12 and under ride the chairlift for free. Weekends only May 29-31, June 5-6, Sept. 11-12, 18-19, 25-26. Daily operations take place from June 12 to Sept. 6.
Hiking: Beaver Creek Mountain and itssurroundings offer hiking options for the novice to the expert. The Beaver Creek Hiking Center and its seasoned guides provide nature walks, group or private hikes and for the more adventurous climb Colorado’s highest peaks on a guided overnight excursion. The Hiking Center opens for the season on June 12, 2010.
Mountain Biking: Pedal your way across miles of Beaver Creek’s rolling single-track and be sure to stop and enjoy the spectacular vistas. The resort’s experienced guides offer rides for all abilities.
Kids’ Camps/Small World Play School: Beaver Creek Kids’ Day Camp isoffered for ages 5-12. Activities include arts and crafts, outdoor adventures and kids’theater. Call (970) 754-5464 for more information and reservations. Small World Play School is a nursery and daycare facility for children ages 2 months to 5 years.
Family Activities: A variety of activities await at the base of Centennial Express Chairlift: play a round ofmini-golf, reach new heights on the bungee trampoline or scale the climbing wall.In the plaza, catch a performance by the Children’s Theatre, take an interactive tour of the Children’sMuseum, or in the evening, take a spin on the resort’s year-round outdoor ice rink.
Beaver Creek Golf Course: Suspended under the clear blue Colorado sky, this Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship course ranked #51 in Golf Digest’s Top 75 Golf Resorts in 2006. Featuring spectacular scenery and challenging fairways, the clubhouse and restaurant, The Rendezvous Club, is open to the public for lunch. Stay and play packages include lodging and rounds of golf. The course opens for public play on May 14, 2010.
Red Sky Golf Club: Red Sky offers two award-winning golf courses by Tom Fazio and Greg Norman and features the Red Sky Golf Academy, luxurious private and guest club facilities, and a beautiful panoramic community. Both courses open for public play on May 14, 2010. The Golf Academy is led by short game specialist Larry Rinker.
Horseback Riding: Explore Beaver Creek Mountain on a guided horseback ride. Beaver Creek Stables offers one and two-hour rides on BeaverCreek’s many designated horse trails. Picnic and lake rides are also available.
Fly Fishing: Gore Creek Fly Fisherman offers two locations - in Beaver CreekVillage in the Fly Fishing Center and in the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch. Guided wade and float trips on the Eagle, Colorado or Roaring Fork Rivers offer breathtaking views, strong wild trout, expert guidance and lunch on all full day trips.
Fishing Ponds: Catch and release fishing is available at Flood’s FishingPonds just off Dally Trail. Fly fishing equipment rentals are available at the Gore CreekFly Fisherman.
18 Hole Championship Disc Golf Course: Begins at Spruce SaddleRestaurant. Discs available for sale at Beaver Creek Sports.
Tennis: Located adjacent to the Highlands Lodge, the Beaver Creek Tennis Center welcomes all levels of players. Lessons, tournaments, special clinics andcomplimentary racquets are available. Court fees apply.
SIGNATURE SUMMER EVENTS:
Blues, Brews & BBQ: May 29-30, 2010- The Blues, Brews and BBQ festival in Beaver Creek is recognized as the unofficial kick off to the summer and barbecue seasons in the mountains. While sampling culinary creations from top barbecue chefs from around the nation, guests enjoy free live blues concerts in the plaza in Beaver Creek Village.
Beaver Creek Rodeo Series: July 1, 8, 15 and 22, Aug. 5, 12 and 19, 2010- The Beaver Creek Rodeo keeps the spirit of the Old West alive with events such as Team Roping, Bull Riding, Burro Racing and Mutton Bustin'. Enjoy kids’ pony rides, face painting, and authentic Western BBQ. Bring the whole family – entry is free for kids 12 & under.
Culinary Demonstration Series: June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 25, and 31, Aug. 1, 7, 14, 21, 28 and Sept. 4-5, 2010-Local chefs provide complimentary culinary demonstrations featuring their own unique dishes. Series takes place at the outdoor state-of-the-art Bon Appetit tent on Beaver Creek Plaza select Saturday afternoons at 5 p.m.
Independence Day Celebration: July 4, 2010– Celebrate with family and friends under the blue skies of Beaver Creek. Enjoy activities all day, great food, a headliner concert on the lawn and fireworks at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain.
XTERRA Off Road Triathlon: July 17, 2010- The Beaver Creek XTERRA is part of XTERRA's Regional Point Series Schedule. The race begins with a 1k swim in Avon Lake, followed by a 25k mountain bike ride up to and around Beaver Creek, and an 8k trail run on Beaver Creek Mountain. There will be both individual and team categories and a free kids’ duathlon.
Rocky Mountain Antique Festival: July 23-25, 2010 - Beaver Creek Village fills with rare and interesting antiques for an entire midsummer weekend. Meet the finest antique vendors from around the U.S. and shop for furniture, rugs, silver, dishes, artwork, jewelry, glassware, and more.
Beaver Creek Art Festival: July 31-Aug. 1, 2010- Over 150 artists converge on Beaver Creek Village with an array of artwork including watercolors, oil & acrylic paintings, woodworking, glass, sculptures, furniture, mosaics, ceramics, and jewelry. Take advantage of the unique opportunity to meet each exhibiting artist in person and learn about their interesting backgrounds.
Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival: Aug. 19-21, 2010-Featuring the winners of the San Francisco International Wine Competition and World Spirits Competition, world-renowned culinary talent and outdoor events highlighting summertime in the mountains. Last year’s events included Fly Fish/ Eat Fish and Wine & Walk seminars plus a Desserts & Drinks class focused on chocolates.
Vertical Ascent Running Race: Aug. 21, 2010- This six-hour leg-burning trail running race offers team and individual categories. Run or hike up Beaver Creek Mountain then ride the chairlift down, completing as many laps as possible within six hours.
Oktoberfest: Sept.4-5, 2010- Oktoberfest in Beaver Creek offers a complete dose of authentic oom-pah-pah music, beer, brats and more. Groove to traditional music from the Helmut Fricker Band, “Trachtenkappelle,” a visiting band from Beaver Creek’s Sister Resort, Lech-Zurs and headliner bands that last year included Super Diamond and Beatle Mania.
