Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – April 15, 2010 – Today, Heavenly Mountain Resort (
www.skiheavenly.com) announced its operations plan for the week of April 19 – 25, 2010. In mid-March, Heavenly announced the extension of the 2009-10 season by one week in response to amazing conditions and a plentiful snowpack. This season the resort will operate the final week with the most ski and snowboard terrain available in the past three years.
Heavenly plans to operate four lifts for skiing and snowboarding, including the Heavenly Gondola, Tamarack Express, Dipper Express and Sky Express with skiing and riding on 38 trails and over 1,900 acres of terrain. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy skiing and riding in both California and Nevada. The Jackpot and Powderbowl terrain parks will remain open with multiple jumps, rails and recycled features through April 25. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Heavenly’s new state-of-the-art tubing operation will also remain open through April 25, 2010, seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“With the impressive winter-quality March and April snowfalls we’ve had conditions are amazing,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of marketing and sales. “During the final week of operations we’ve decided to keep Sky Express open which will provide skiing and snowboarding in both California and Nevada and access to two terrain parks.”
The Heavenly Terrain Park Crew is celebrating the amazing spring with a new innovative feature in Jackpot Terrain Park called The Gambler. The thirty-foot-tall expert only feature combines a butter pad, jump, snow wallride and a half bowl into one and boasts 12 to 15 feet of vert. The Gambler took four days to construct and was designed by Heavenly park groomer Garrett Froelich with assistance from Brandon Dodds. The feature is accessible from the jump line of the Jackpot Terrain Park and is located after the triple-jump line.
During the final week of operations Heavenly will offer dining at the Adventure Peak Smokehouse as well as East Peak Lodge’s outdoor BBQ (weather permitting) and the indoor food court. The Umbrella Bar at the top of the Gondola will also be open for beverage service. Café Blue on the Observation Deck will be open for light snacks and drinks daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
