The Winter Culinary Festival Returns to Keystone Resort Showcasing the Resort’s Award-Winning Cuisine

KEYSTONE, Colo. –February 24, 2010 – Keystone Resort presents the 2nd Annual Winter Culinary
Festival March 5-7, a resort-wide, multi-day event showcasing Keystone’s award-winning restaurants accompanied by culinary education programs, the Dine Out Keystone program, and incredible lodging values.

The festival’s signature event, the Grand Tasting, features an evening of specialties from Keystone’s award-winning restaurants including the Keystone Ranch, Ski Tip Lodge, Alpenglow Stube, Bighorn Steakhouse and more on March 6 at 5:30 p.m. Guests will ride two gondolas to dine atop Keystone’s North Peak and can sample small plates with highlights from all of the resort’s award-winning restaurants. Reservations are required, and tickets for the Grand Tasting are purchased for $99 by calling 970.496.4386.
Keystone Resort is also hosting various culinary education courses throughout the weekend. The schedule of classes and demonstrations is as follows:

Friday, March 5
  • Show Kitchen Demo: The Alpenglow Stube hosts this morning demonstration of their gourmet kitchen.
  • Margaritas and Tequilas: Parrot Eyes Restaurant hosts a tasting of top shelf, hand crafted tequilas with discussion on their history, finished off with a margarita.
  • Whiskey Blends: Guests sip a variety of the finest single malt and grain whiskies and compare the original smooth blends to some of the rarest malts in the Little Horn at the Keystone Lodge.
  • Specialty Rums: Guests compare the combination of aromas and flavors produced over time through the unique rum maturing process with a rum ambassador expert in the Little Horn at the Keystone Lodge.
  • Unique Red Varietals: The Ski Tip Lodge features unique red varietals and blends. Attending guests will receive a 15 percent off coupon for dinner at the Ski Tip, good anytime throughout the next year.
  • A World Awaits Wine Tasting: A Keystone Sommelier guides guests through a tasting of fine wines from around the world in a casual social atmosphere in the Little Horn at the Keystone Lodge.
  • Martini Tasting: The Summit Seafood Company invites guests to experience unique martini recipes from their master mixologist.
  • World Celebration of Wine Dinner: Chef Kevin McCombs and Sommelier Megan Morgan take guests for a tour around the globe to explore the viticulture and culinary arts of the seven continents of the world with seven courses and six wines at the Ski Tip Lodge.
Saturday, March 6
  • Champagne and Sparkling Wines: Keystone Experts introduce guests to champagne and other forms of sparkling wines from around the world at the Keystone Lodge.
  • Ice Carving Demo with Keystone Chef Steve Nguyen: Watch as Ice Carving Master Steve Nguyen transforms blocks of ice into sculptures with his various power tools at the base of the River Run Gondola.
  • CMC Culinary Trends Cooking Demo: The demonstration will focus on using Colorado grown and raised products to produce internationally inspired appetizers and entrees in the Keystone Lodge.
  • Specialty Rums: Guests compare the combination of aromas and flavors produced over time through the unique rum maturing process with a rum ambassador expert in the Keystone Lodge.
  • Whiskey Blends: Guests sip a variety of the finest single malt and grain whiskies and compare the original smooth blends to some of the rarest malts in the Little Horn at the Keystone Lodge.

Sunday, March 7
  • Chocolate Demo and Breakfast Class: Executive Pastry Chef Ned Archibald and 2004 Colorado Chef of the year, shares his talent during this Chocolate Demo Class. Guests will enjoy fresh baked pastries, breakfast breads, coffee and tea as Ned demonstrates how to make his renowned chocolate creations in his bakery.
  • Champagne Brunch at the Alpenglow Stube: Guests head to the top of North Peak, exchange boots for warm, fuzzy slippers, and partake in a unique menu of Mimosas, soups, a selection of entrées and an array of magnificent desserts. 
  • Champagne and Sparkling Wines: Keystone Experts introduce guests to champagne and other forms of sparkling wines from around the world at the Keystone Lodge.
