Vail Mountain Set to Grow to Nearly 800 Acres on Wednesday, December 9
VAIL, Colo. – Dec. 8, 2009 – Old Man Winter returned to Vail today, allowing Vail Mountain to expand its ski and snowboard terrain to nearly 800 acres beginning Wednesday, Dec. 8, including terrain in Game Creek Bowl, accessible by the Game Creek Express Lift (#7).

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 the following lifts and portions of terrain in these areas will open for the 2009-2010 ski season:
  • Avanti Express Lift (#2)
  • Wildwood Express Lift (#3)
  • Mountaintop Express Lift (#4)
  • Game Creek Express Lift (#7)
  • Born Free Express Lift (#8)
  • Gopher Hill Lift (#12)
  • Little Eagle Lift (#15)
  • Vista Bahn Express Lift (#16)
  • Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19
“The storm today has given us just the boost we need to expand Vail Mountain’s terrain, and just in time for the annual Vail Snow Daze festivities throughout the week,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain.

Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy daily on-mountain dining, including the new Epic Mountain Burger, at Wildwood, the Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest, Buffalo’s at PHQ, and the Look Ma level at Mid Vail. All on-mountain dining venues will offer a daily Lunch for Less value meal for $9.95, including an entrée, side dish and a fountain drink.

Vail Mountain lifts will currently open at 9 a.m. Skiers and riders are asked to observe all posted signs and closures, especially during the early season. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage.
