BEAVER CREEK, Colo. – Aug. 25, 2009 –Beaver Creek’s 10th annual Oktoberfest celebration takes place September 5-6 and will showcase two great performances kicking off with the infamous Super Diamond on Saturday followed by Beatle Mania Live on Sunday. In addition, the event includes a much-anticipated dose of authentic oom-pah-pah, while outdoor enthusiasts can participate in the third annual Oktoberfest Shuffle on Saturday. Bavarians and Bavarians-at-heart – of all ages – should don their Oktoberfest finest to compete in the annual Bavarian costume and Alpenhorn contests. Authentic Oktoberfest cuisine, unbeatable brews, and kid’s activities round out this festive, late summer excuse to unwind in the Rocky Mountains.

Saturday, September 5
8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. Oktoberfest Shuffle on-site registration in Beaver Creek Village next to the fountain.
10 a.m. Third annual Oktoberfest Shuffle starts in Beaver Creek Village featuring a walk, Nordic walk, hike, or run over either a 5km or 10km course highlighting the trails of Beaver Creek Mountain. All proceeds benefit the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group.
11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Food booths and beer garden on Beaver Creek Plaza. Indulge in a variety of Bavarian-style cuisine prepared by local restaurants. Food and beverages available for purchase.
11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Complimentary live music on the outdoor plaza:

Oktoberfest Shuffle, September 5
Get your shuffle on at the third annual Beaver Creek Oktoberfest Shuffle, presented by the Beaver Creek Resort Company, on Saturday, September 5. Join friends and family for a scenic “hike or hustle” on Beaver Creek Mountain. Proceeds benefit the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group, which provides “A Day to Play” program for women in Eagle County who are diagnosed with breast cancer. The group also supports educational programs and has funded Jack’s Place as well as the Sonnenalp Breast Diagnostic Imaging Center within the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.
The Oktoberfest Shuffle will kick-off the festivities at Beaver Creek’s annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday with a non-competitive 5K and 10K walk, Nordic walk, hike, or run along picturesque trails throughout the resort. The Shuffle begins at 10 a.m. in Beaver Creek Village. Day-of registration takes place from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. on Beaver Creek Plaza next to the ice skating rink. Register in advance online at www.active.com. The cost is $25 for cancer survivors, and $30 per person; for day of registration add $5. Kids ages 12 and under are free. The first 250 paid participants will receive a Pink commemorative Oktoberfest shuffle hat.

Admission to the Oktoberfest outdoor celebration is free. Free parking is available in the village parking garages or in the Elk and Bear Lots along Highway 6 in Avon.
