KEYSTONE, Colo. –June 11, 2009 – Keystone Resort celebrates the opening of the Keystone Ranch Golf Course with a brunch prepared by special guest, and Bravo Television’s Top Chef, Brian Malarkey on Friday, June 19th. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Keystone Ranch driving range as Chef Malarkey grills up seafood appetizers followed by a brunch at the AAA, four diamond-rated, Keystone Ranch Restaurant at 11 a.m. Guests can enjoy brunch and a round of golf for $100 or just brunch for $30.
The Keystone Ranch course has been rated as one of the top 50 "Must-Play" golf courses in the world by LINKS Magazine. This classic mountain golf course is quietly tucked into one of Colorado's most picturesque mountain valleys and surrounded by majestic peaks. Winding through lodgepole pines, around sage meadows and across a nine-acre lake, this par-72 course features slight elevation changes and many bunkers. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Keystone Ranch Golf Course follows the legendary links-style of a Scottish course on the front nine, while the back nine presents a traditional mountain valley layout with a yardage of 5,582 - 7,090.
Chef Malarkey brings much to the Ranch Golf Course opening event including his love of seafood. A native of Oregon, Chef Brian Malarkey grew up inspired by the cooking of his grandmother, in her beach house kitchen where she was often joined by her old friend James Beard. Brian expanded his skill set at Western Culinary Institute's Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Portland. Since finishing school, Brian has excelled as Executive Chef and Operating Partner of Oceanaire’s in San Diego, a restaurant that has received more than 60 industry awards.
Highlights of Malarkey’s career thus far include being selected as a contestant on Bravo’s Emmy-nominated culinary series in 2007, “Top Chef 3 Miami.” Malarkey competed against 15 of the countries best chefs and advanced to the final round gaining national recognition for his culinary talents. Since his time on “Top Chef,” Malarkey has made numerous appearances on subsequent seasons of the show and was most recently featured in episode eight of season four preparing dinner for the Real Housewives of Orange County. This summer, Malarkey will make an appearance on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” and Animal Planet’s award-winning reality series “Jockeys: Win or Die Trying.”
