* Beaver Creek offers "cool tunes" with its new concert series at 10,000-plus-feet in an igloo mountaintop concert hall with instruments carved from ice
Beaver Creek, Colo.- March 5, 2009- Ice artists Tim & Birgitta Linhart have created Colorado’s first music concert hall built of ice. The gigantic igloo, located at the summit of Beaver Creek Resort, seats an audience of 75 people in its elegantly designed interior.
Within the igloo is an orchestra of musical instruments which the artists have built of ICE: Violin, cello, guitar, xylophone, Rolandophone, drums, and flutes. These instruments are more than sculptures, they are all functioning acoustic instruments which produce super clear tones and a wide variety of voices.
Concerts will be performed March 6, 7 & 8 and March 13, 14 & 15 at 2 p.m.
Musicians Mark Dudrow (cello & guitar), Justin Dean (violin, guitar & voice), Gram Owen (cello & guitar), Scott Aller (percussion), Tim Linhart (flute, xylophone, rolandophone) will perform a classical, folk, and rock program for the weekend of the 6, 7, & 8.
The otherworldly atmosphere of the concert hall enchants, and the music coming from the ice instruments amazes and inspires all who enter this utterly unique artistic creation.
This work of art will soon melt away and flow into the Colorado River so we invite you to attend our scheduled events and contact us for any further information.
For more information about the concerts please contact Tim Linhart at (970) 401-4224.
