WHISTLER, BC – March 6, 2018 – Vail Resorts announced today the introduction of the Epic SchoolKids program for the 2018-19 winter season at Whistler Blackcomb. Popular at the Company’s resorts in Colorado and Utah, the Epic SchoolKids Whistler Blackcomb Pack offers Canadian and Washington State kindergartners to grade five students five free days of skiing or snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb, along with one free lesson and equipment rental for first-time skiers and snowboarders. Vail Resorts strives to give back to the communities in which it operates, and believes the Epic SchoolKids program can inspire the next generation of skiers and snowboarders, allowing them to access and appreciate the mountain environment that exists in their own backyard.

“We are thrilled to offer Epic SchoolKids at Whistler Blackcomb next winter season. Fostering kids’ passion for skiing and snowboarding and providing them with an experience of a lifetime is an important part of our Company’s mission,” said Pete Sonntag, chief operating officer for Whistler Blackcomb. “Epic SchoolKids offers an incredible way to connect kids and families with the mountains, and the program’s launch at Whistler Blackcomb gives Canadian and Washington state children unprecedented access to free skiing and riding, and we’re excited to welcome kindergarteners through grade five students to register for the program this spring.”

With just over 8,100 acres, Whistler Blackcomb features terrain for all levels from alpine bowls to family learning zones. The Epic SchoolKids Whistler Blackcomb Pack allows families to access North America’s largest mountain resort next winter season with a new CAD$66-million lift upgrade, including a 10-person gondola, a new high-speed quad lift on Blackcomb Mountain plus a high-speed, six-person lift at the heart of the Emerald family learning zone on Whistler Mountain. These upgrades will improve guest flow around the mountains and mean fewer lines and more time on the mountain skiing and snowboarding.

Whistler Blackcomb’s 5-Day EDGE Card offers parents ideal complementary access for exploring the mountain together as a family. Exclusively available to residents of Canada and Washington state, the 5-Day EDGE Card provides skiers and snowboarders with five days of access to Whistler Blackcomb during the 2018-19 season at CAD$419 (adult), with holiday restrictions, or CAD$459 (adult) for unrestricted access. The launch of the Epic SchoolKids Whistler Blackcomb Pack offers savings for a family of four of up to CAD$440. Additionally, 5-Day EDGE Cardholders have the option to use two of the five days at any of Vail Resorts’ other owned and operated ski resorts and receive exclusive savings on lodging, up to 20 percent off at select retail locations, CAD$35 off select Snow School programs, and more. Guests who purchase a 2018-19 EDGE Card by April 15, 2018 receive unlimited early season skiing and snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb from opening day to Dec. 14, 2018, plus one PEAK 2 PEAK 360 Sightseeing ticket for use this summer.

No purchase is necessary to take advantage of the Epic SchoolKids program. Epic SchoolKids registration will be available for a limited time and is subject to holiday and peak restrictions. Registration information for Epic Schoolkids will be shared later this spring at EpicSchoolKids.com/WhistlerBlackcomb.
