Patagonia Store to Open in Park City
BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Sept. 16, 2016—Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) today announced that its retail division, Vail Resorts Retail (VRR), will open a new Patagonia retail store on the corner of Main Street and Heber Avenue in Park City, located in the space of the former Silver Queen Hotel that has been sitting vacant for three years. The location is anticipated to open in mid-December and will feature Patagonia’s collection of clothing designed for the outdoors including apparel for skiing, snowboarding, climbing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running.

As part of the mid-December grand opening, VRR has committed to donate five percent of proceeds during that period to Mountain Trails Foundation, a Park City non-profit organization dedicated to building, maintaining and protecting trails for non-motorized recreation in the Park City area.

“Adding a Patagonia store to Main Street in Park City is a perfect brand complement to the pioneering and outdoor spirit of the community,” said Kat Jobanputra, executive vice president and chief operating officer of VRR. “Alpinism is at the heart of Patagonia’s brand, and the synergies between the apparel and our on-mountain offerings are a great match. Adding this store will further contribute to the robust offerings in the active, outdoors category on Main Street and provide apparel that the Park City community and guests seek.”

Jobanputra added, “Supporting Mountain Trails showcases our commitment to the community and desire to give back to organizations that are key in bringing our love for the outdoors to life. Vail Resorts Retail, Patagonia and Mountain Trails all share similar values in connecting people with the outdoors and environmental advocacy. We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to such an important community non-profit in this way.”

VRR has entered into a long-term lease on the 3,000-square-foot space, and will now begin the building permit application process with the Town of Park City to begin construction on the interior space.
