Northstar California™ Resort Kicks off a Variety of Summer Long Weekend Events
Ongoing Events Feature Live Music, Tahoe Star Tours and the Annual Village at Northstar Wine Walk series
 
TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 19, 2012 – Summer is in full swing atNorthstar, with an array of family-friendly activities and events now underway. Returning weekend favorites include Tahoe Star Gazing Tours, Wine Walks and complimentary live music in the Village at Northstar. The resort’s 9,000 square foot outdoor skating rink is also open, featuring roller skating from 12pm-8pm daily.
 
Village at Northstar Wine Walks
One of the most popular summer events at Northstar, the Village at Northstar Wine Walk Series kicks off June 30. Taking place the last Saturday of each month (June through August) from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., resort visitors are invited to sample a variety of wine offerings from vineyards of the Central Coast (June 30), Sierra Foothills (July 28) and North Coast (August 25) regions. Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 per person day of, and include wine and food sampling stations and a commemorative wine glass. All participants must be 21 and will be required to show valid I.D.
 
Tahoe Star Gazing Tours
Make it a date night, or bring the family to experience the starry sky above Northstar at one of the Tahoe Star Gazing Tours. Star guide and poet Tony Berendsen, the President of the Nevada Science Coalition will lead an educational laser tour of the night sky, as well as offer an awe-inspiring look into the sky through top-of-the-line Celestron telescopes.While every tour offers a unique experience, each will include a poem reading, a fun space quiz with prizes, a laser tour of the stars and constellations and telescopic viewing. Select Tahoe Star Tours (June 30, July, 21 & Aug. 18) will feature performances by Accent String Quartet, a Reno based string quartet.  These events provide the perfect opportunity to relax andsip on hot chocolate or coffee while enjoying music under the stars.
 
Reservations are recommended, and tickets are $30 for ages 13+ and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Tickets for Star GazingTours featuring Accent String Quartetare $65 for ages 17+ and $30 for children ages 12 and under.
 
Live Music in the Village
After a day on the mountain or shopping in the village, visitors are invited to sit back in the cabanas around the rink, relax and enjoy live music Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. as performers bring the Village Stage to life. All weekend afternoon live music is free, and is offered on weekends through September 28, with the schedule subject to change due to weather or events.

North Lake Tahoe visitors looking for other resort activities to participate in have plenty of options both on the mountain and in the village. On the mountain, guests can take advantage of Northstar’s Mountain Bike & Hiking park, scenic chairlift rides, and geocaching adventure. In the village, activities including roller skating, the Apex Bungy Trampoline, ropes course, pottery painting, candle making, jewelry design and more keep visitors busy. The resort’s 18 hole golf course and opportunities for fly-fishing instruction round out Northstar’s summer season.
