New Event, Festive Month-long Offerings Make Keystone Resort the Ideal December Family Vacation Destination
Keystone, Colo. — Oct. 19, 2016 — Nestled among the White River National Forest in the Rocky Mountains, Keystone Resort’s awe-inspiring surroundings provide the perfect backdrop to a family holiday visit. With a lineup of special happenings in addition to skiing and snowboarding, including the lighting of the World’s Largest Snow Fort, fireworks, chocolate tours and horse-drawn sleigh ride dinners, guests can enjoy a holiday getaway throughout the month of December. The New Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular
Keystone’s Kidtopia continues to redefine the family resort experience with free activities and events on and off the snow every day of the week starting Friday, Nov. 25. This winter Keystone presents the inaugural Kidtopia Mountaintop Spectacular Dec. 16-18, a weekend of festive on-mountain fun for the entire family. This free event will showcase a variety of activities and Kidtopia programs that make the resort a top destination for families, including nightly firework displays, a torchlight ski parade led by Keystone’s Ski & Ride School, and a mountaintop celebration where guests can enjoy free snow tubing, snowcat photo opportunities, live music, hot cocoa and fireside stories with Santa. Kidtopia will animate the mountaintop with Bigfoot adventure walks and a ski patrol-dog meet and greet, plus a special lighting ceremony of the world’s largest Snow Fort to create an unforgettable weekend.
 
Explore the World’s Largest Snow Fort
The World’s Largest Snow Fort returns to Keystone’s Dercum Mountain this December bigger and better than ever, offering families the ultimate snow playground at 11,640 feet above sea level, featuring a series of tunnels, slides and mazes within the walls. The mountaintop castle is a staple of Keystone’s Kidtopia offerings, providing free family entertainment for all. The Snow Fort is open daily during lift operating hours, and is free to guests with lift access. The Kidtopia Snow Fort is scheduled to open on Saturday, Dec. 10 and will remain open until the snow melts.
 
Santa Claus is Coming to Keystone
The big guy himself will be on-hand beginning Saturday, Nov. 26 and will make appearances throughout December, before he embarks upon his prior obligations. From photo opportunities, skiing, parades and a PJ Brunch, to the Mountaintop Spectacular, Santa Claus will be in resort Dec. 10, 17, 18, 19, 22 and 23. Behind-the-Scenes Chocolate Tours with Keystone’s Very Own “Willy Wonka”
On Friday, Dec. 16 Keystone Resort’s executive pastry chef Ned Archibald welcomes guests for a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into his world of decadent desserts and chocolate making at the resort. Take a break from the slopes one morning to experience this can’t-miss tour designed for kids (and parents), and meet the man himself, tour his chef’s workshop and make delicious treats of your own to take home. No golden ticket required; this Chocolate Tour is free to attend. The tour takes place at the Keystone Conference Center from 9-11:30 a.m. Other dates throughout the winter include: Dec. 11, 16, 23; Jan. 13 & 27; Feb. 3 & 14; March 8, 10, and 31.
 
Keystone Chocolate Village
Keystone Executive Pastry Chef Ned Archibald utilizes more than 5,000 pounds of imported chocolate for the Keystone Chocolate Village and it has been a hand-crafted holiday tradition at the resort for the past 20 years. Featuring a working chocolate gondola, cascading chocolate waterfall, four-foot tall chocolate Christmas tree, and many other winter scenes, this chocolate masterpiece is free to attend. Located in the lobby of the Keystone Lodge & Spa from Dec. 20, 2016-Jan. 8, 2017.
 
Kids Ski Free – Even During Holidays
Returning for a celebratory fifth season, Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program is easy on the wallet, easy on the rules and hard to beat. Available every day for the duration of the season, including weekends and holidays, families need only to book two or more nights of lodging through Keystone Resort for any child 12 and younger to ski for free.
