Keystone Resort Set to Open Tomorrow with the Most Vertical Feet in Colorado
Keystone, Colo. – Nov. 5, 2015 – With 6-inches of new snow in the past 24-hours providing excellent mountaintop conditions, Keystone Resort will open for the 2015-2016 winter season this Friday, Nov. 6. Skiers and riders will have access to the River Run Gondola and Montezuma Express to enjoy more than 1,600 vertical feet of great intermediate terrain on Spring Dipper, with skiing and riding access from the top of Dercum Mountain to the Gondola Mid Station.

Additionally, the Kokomo carpet will operate at the top of Dercum to offer a beginner learning area for novice snow enthusiasts, providing a total of 40 acres available to skiers and riders. When done grabbing the first turns of the season, guests can download the River Run Gondola to the base of River Run Village, where restaurants and shops provide a perfect end to the day.

Keystone’s award-winning A51 Terrain Park crew made the difficult decision to delay the opening of its early season park. In order to offer guests the kind of quality they have come to expect from A51, the team will take advantage of on-going snowmaking efforts and will make features available just as soon as possible. Fans can stay up-to-date on progress on the A51 Facebook page.

Keystone’s mountain operations teams will continue to work towards expanding terrain as soon as possible and the resort snowmaking team will take advantage of any and all opportunities to make snow across a variety of terrain.

Off-mountain, guests will be treated to a variety of fun festivities to celebrate the beginning of another exciting winter season. Skiers and riders awaiting the first chair of the season, scheduled for 9 a.m., will have the chance to take home great giveaways and enjoy free coffee and hot chocolate, as well as donut treats from Keystone Executive Pastry Chef Ned Archibald.

Additional weekend activities will include the kickoff of the Get Stoked Winter Film Series on Saturday evening at Warren Station, located in the heart of Keystone’s River Run Village. The evening will begin with a screening of “Shaping Skiing,” produced by 4FRNT Productions, at 5:30 p.m. followed by a screening of “Small World,” produced by Level 1 Productions, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door on Saturday for $5 for adults, $3 for kids 12 and under, and free for kids 5 and under.
