More Snow in Breck = Spring Fever Festival Expansion to April 24, Closing Day

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — March 16, 2016 — Another 9” of new snow was reported this morning at Breckenridge Ski Resort snow stake cam, bringing the 48-hour snow totals from the massive spring snow storm currently sitting over Colorado to 18 inches for Breck spring breakers! The timely snowfall has prompted ski resort officials to announce the extension of their annual Spring Fever Festival into closing week April 18-24, 2016.
 
Breck’s Spring Fever Festival, the largest spring skiing party in the Rocky Mountain region, kicks off this weekend with the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge and will now continue until April 24 with a closing day BBQ from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., featuring a whole roasted beef steamship carving station, all the BBQ trimmings, drink specials, music and a… wait for it… mechanical bull. 
 
Closing week at Breckenridge will offer approx. 1000 acres of skiing on Peak 8, conditions permitting.  Special lodging packages for that week are now available, starting at $119/night.  Book now at Breckenridge.com.
 
The full Spring Fever schedule features the BudLight Concert Series throughout April. All concerts are FREE to the public and take place on a specially-constructed stage on the snow facing One Ski Hill Place, a RockResort, at the base of Peak 8 at 2 p.m. on each concert date. Other events include Easter family festivities, the Spring Fever Beer Festival and competitions in Breck’s award winning Freeway and Park Lane terrain parks. Learn more at BreckSpringFever.com

Breck Spring Fever 2016 Signature Events include:
  • March 18 - 20 GoPro Big Mountain Challenge – Come watch the action at Peak 6 at 10:00 a.m. both days and see some of the best big mountain free riders in the country as they compete in this youth freestyle event and score points in the IFSA series.
  • April 1, 8, 15 Spring Fever Park Jam – Join the Breck Park Crew Friday afternoons during Spring Fever, where they’ll be running Spring Fever Park Jams in Freeway and Park Lane. Win GoPros, season passes and other prizes during jam-style contests from noon to 3 p.m.
  • April 2 Mountain Dew Spring Open – Park Lane becomes center stage during this exhilarating competition at Park Lane on Peak 8. More details to come.
  • April 3 Spring Fever Breck Chili Cook-off – Sevens restaurant will host its annual chili cook-off at noon when top chefs from Breckenridge Ski Resort and Breck Hospitality face off against each other to see whose chili recipe is the best.
  • April 9 BudLight Concert Series, featuring Michael Franti & Spearhead Michael Franti combines his love of R&B, hip-hop, reggae and poetry into a unique blend of music that inspires both the soul and mind. Franti is a charismatic performer and lead vocalist who connects seamlessly with his audience during his live performances. The FREE concert begins at 2 p.m. at the base of Peak 8.
  • April 9 Breckenridge Spring Fever Beer Festival – Sample beers from more than 35 breweries in downtown Breck on Ridge Street. Beginning at noon, this event features delicious food and free music.
  • April 16 Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real Lukas Nelson first picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and practiced his craft by playing along to classic Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix songs. The son of music legend Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real electrify fans year-round with performances across the country, while also backing for the Neil Young band. The FREE concert begins at 2 p.m. at the base of Peak 8.
  • April 17 Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue New Orleans native Trombone Shorty is the bandleader and frontman in the hard-edged funk band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. He began playing professionally at the age of five, and now Trombone Shorty and his band tour internationally with their unique style that employs rock dynamics, a hip-hop beat and improvisation in a jazz tradition. The group’s musical talents are best showcased during live performance, where NOLA jazz heritage is paired with modern funk to delight fans everywhere. The FREE concert begins at 2 p.m. at the base of Peak 8.
  • April 24 Closing Day Cowboy BBQ – Close out the season right with a traditional beef BBQ on the patio at One Ski Hill Place at the Peak 8 base area.  The party includes music and a mechanical bull.

EpicDay Lift Tickets – Save up to 20 Percent
Skiers who have yet to become Epic Pass holders enjoy lift ticket savings of up to 20 percent this spring with EpicDay Lift Tickets. When purchased in advance, lift tickets can be picked up at a designated EpicDay Express Ticket Pick-Up lane at each resort. Once the ticket is issued, guests can retain and re-load it online with additional days – skipping a return trip to the ticket window.
