2015 Official Artist Carrie Fell Produces Inaugural World Championships Art Piece for Event's First Poster
VAIL, Colo. – Feb. 12, 2014 – The color, power and grace of alpine skiing has been captured on canvas as 2015 World Championships Official Artist Carrie Fell recently released her inaugural World Championships art piece, entitled “Effective Edge”.

The original artwork measures 20” x 50” and features a combination of acrylic, oil and full resin, highlighted with Fell’s trademark vibrant colors and fluid forms.  Organizers will utilize the piece for the event’s first poster.

“We are very excited to introduce Carrie’s inaugural World Championships piece to the world,” explained Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation and head of the 2015 World Championships Organizing Committee.  “Her willingness to donate her fantastic talents on behalf of the World Championships truly exemplifies her tremendous commitment to the Vail Valley and giving back to our community.  I know that ‘Effective Edge’ is going to be a very sought after piece.”

In addition to producing a collection of World Championships-themed artwork over the course of the coming year, Fell will also be working with local children to create a special art piece, while also embarking on other unique merchandising, marketing and design concepts throughout the event.

“The heat from the intense midnight blue background in this painting creates a sense of urgency as snow is kicked up from the skier's movement around the gate,” explained Fell.  “My goal is create a visualization of the hearts of the American athletes and to the many athletes that will come here in the colors of the globe.”

Painting professionally since 1988, Fell opened her Vail gallery, located in the newly-renamed Championships Plaza (formerly Solaris Plaza) complex in December of 2011. Fell comes by her affinity for the Vail Valley naturally, having grown up skiing with her family in Vail.

Scheduled from February 2-15 of 2015, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail and Beaver Creek are expected to showcase athletes from over 70 nations, with an estimated 750 million worldwide television viewers and an onsite media and broadcast entourage of approximately 1,500 members.
