Vishwatej Nath Named New Executive Chef of Vail’s Latest On-Mountain Restaurant, The 10th

VAIL, Colo. – Oct. 4, 2012 – Vail Mountain, the largest ski resortin the United States,announced today the appointment of Vishwatej Nath to executive chef for Vail’s newest on-mountain, table-service restaurant, The 10th. Also new for the winter season, The 10th will be open for après and dinner service Tuesdays through Saturdays, in addition to lunch daily.
 
“After an incredibly successful inaugural season at The 10th last year, and with the addition of our new gondola from Vail Village to Mid-Vail allowing us to expand service to include après and dinner, this will be an even more exciting winter at The 10th,” said Chris Jarnot, chief operating officer and senior vice president of Vail Mountain.  “We are thrilled to have Chef Nath bring his leadership to the kitchen at The 10th to build upon last year’s introduction of its modern alpine cuisine.”
 
Chef Vishwatej Nath joins The 10th most recently from Vail Resorts’ Grand Teton Lodge Company (GTLC) where he led all culinary operations for Jackson Lake Lodge, AAA Four Diamond Jenny Lake Lodge, Colter Bay Village and Flagg Ranch Resort. As executive chef at GTLC, Nath was responsible for a team of nearly 200 individuals and creating culinary delights on the plate, in the glass and on the scene in the Tetons, feeding thousands of park visitors each day. Among his past endeavors he has served as executive sous chef and banquet chef at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa and as sous chef at The Boca Bay Pass Club in Boca Grande, Fla. He also re-ignited his passion for pastry and baking at the Madalay Bay in Las Vegas. Nath’s diverse expanse of culinary experience ranges from quick-service to Four Diamond cuisine, banquets, baking and pastry. He is a graduate of the prestigious Institut Hotelier Cesar Ritz in Le Bouveret, Switzerland.
 
“I look forward to returning to Vail, where I began my career, as executive chef at The 10th,” said chef Nath, “Modern alpine cuisine has had huge success, and drawing on inspiration from fond memories of Switzerland and encompassing refinement on more bold flavors, textures and tastes with a new eclectic culinary artistry will help propel the culinary boundaries of The 10th even further.”
 
The 10th is scheduled to open for lunch, served daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. With the addition of Vail’s new gondola, guests will also be able to enjoy après at the bar from 3-6 p.m. and dinner service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays beginning Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012.
 
The more than 13,000 square-foot, ski-in, ski-out restaurant features a main dining room with spectacular views of the Gore Range, a cozy bar and lounge with fireplace, and a south-facing outdoor deck that captures the afternoon sun and views of the Look Ma and Challenge trails. The restaurant’s beautiful design and finishes befit its mountain location while still offering a bit of contemporary flair.
