As Much as Six Feet of New Snow Delivered in the Last Week to Top Ski Resorts Across the Western United States

The New Year has resolved to deliver massive amounts of snow across ski resorts in the western United States, with as much as six feet falling in the last week. A heavy band of snow is expected to continue falling today across the mountains throughout the day, including Colorado’s Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek Resort, Breckenridge and Keystone; Utah’s Park City Mountain; and the Lake Tahoe Region’s Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

Vail Mountain Announces Plans for Capital Improvements for the 2017-2018 Winter Season

Vail Resorts continues its wave of tremendous investments at Vail Mountain with the replacement of the Northwoods Express Lift (#11) with a six-passenger lift to debut during the 2017-2018 winter season. The new lift marks the 10th lift replacement in the last 11 years at Vail. This plan is subject to U.S. Forest Service approval.

Vail Offers More than 5,000 Acres of Skiable Terrain

Vail Mountain is currently offering skiing and snowboarding on 5,074 acres of skiable terrain, including terrain in Siberia Bowl, Inner Mongolia Bowl and Outer Mongolia Bowl accessible via Mongolia Lift (#22). The legendary Back Bowls and the majority of terrain in Blue Sky Basin are open, and Vail currently has 96 percent of its 5,289 total acres open.

Vail Mountain Opens China Bowl

Vail Mountain began operating Orient Express (#21) and Teacup Express (#36) today, accessing terrain in China Bowl. The resort also opened Riva Bahn Express (#6) and Highline Express (#10), bringing the total skiable acres to 2,692, the most open terrain at any ski resort in Colorado. Vail has received two feet of new snow in the last week, and the Colorado forecast is calling for consistent snowfall until Dec. 18.
