New Vail Mountain Hiking Center is Open for Guests; Additional Hiking and Biking Trails Open
  • Guided hike and bike clinics now available for summer
  • Kinnickinnick and Sunlight hiking trails anticipated to open this weekend
The new Vail Mountain Hiking Center is now open in Lionshead, in addition to many of the resort’s hiking and mountain biking trails.
 
The Vail Mountain Hiking Center, located at the base of Lionshead next to Gore Creek Fly Fisherman, is a great resource for summer guests looking for information on the variety of hiking offerings on the mountain. Local, knowledgeable experts are on hand daily at the Hiking Center to provide trail recommendations and information on the area’s natural surroundings including flora, fauna and wildlife.
 
Guests can also explore Vail’s vast summer trail system on foot or on wheels with guided hiking tours and guided bike clinics. Guided hike and bike offerings are a great way for guests of all abilities to enjoy hiking and mountain biking trails, familiarize themselves with the mountain, and get tips and local information all with the help of a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Half-day morning and afternoon tours are offered daily throughout the summer, in addition to full-day and private tours.
 
Open hiking trails include Berrypicker, Fireweed, Eagle’s Loop, Grand Escape and Ptarmigan Loop. In addition, the Kinnickinnick and Sunlight trails are anticipated to open for the holiday weekend. Open mountain biking trails include Big Mamba, Cub’s Way, Fred’s Lunch, Gitalong Road, Hank’s Hideaway, Liondown, Lucy’s Loop, Magic Forest, Mane Lane, Old Nine Line, Onza Alley, PMT, South 6 Escape, and Village Trail
 
Currently construction is underway at Vail Mountain on the new six-passenger Avanti Express Lift (#2) in preparation for the winter season, as well as the new Forest Flyer and Game Creek canopy tour planned to debut as a part of Epic Discovery in summer 2016. Please note that some of the mountain’s hiking and biking trails will be affected this summer due to construction. As always, guests are reminded to observe all posted signs and closures.
 
On-Mountain Dining
Bistro Fourteen and Game Creek Restaurant are now open for summer operations. Bistro Fourteen is serving lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 8 p.m. Game Creek is open for dinner Thursdays through Saturdays beginning at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
 
The 10th will open for the summer on Friday, July 3, serving lunch Fridays-Sundays.
 
Sarge’s BBQ & Deck at Mid-Vail and Talon’s Deck at Eagle’s Nest are open daily.
 
Due to private events Game Creek Restaurant will be closed on Friday, July 3 and The 10th will be closed on Sunday, July 5th.
 
Summer 2015 Gondola Dates (Gondola One and Eagle Bahn Gondola)
  • Daily: Friday, June 12 – Sunday, Aug. 30
  • Weekends-Only: Sept. 4-7, 11-13, 18-20, 25-27 and Oct. 2-4
Lift tickets are required to ride Gondola One and the Eagle Bahn Gondola during the summer and can be purchased at the Vail Village or Lionshead Ticket Offices. Lift & Lunch tickets are also available and include gondola access plus a $15 credit towards the purchase of food and beverage at any of Vail’s on-mountain dining facilities.
 
2015–2016 Epic Pass holders receive unlimited, free scenic access to the both gondolas throughout the summer. Guests who have not yet secured a pass for next winter can purchase one online at www.epicpass.com.
