- Mountain plans to implement new activities ranging from zip lines and summer tubing to aerial challenge courses and climbing boulders
“The activities and upgrades included in the approved Adventure Ridge proposal will significantly elevate the experience that’s currently available to our guests, especially in summer,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. “This is an important step in continuing to engage people of all ages in our country’s national forests and provide truly memorable experiences in Vail.”
The resort will implement several new activities, including a four-line 1,000-foot long zip line, aerial ropes courses, a large and challenging climbing wall, summer tubing, a series of small climbing boulders, a kids zip line, and a series of short zip lines and rope features, similar to a canopy tour, from Eagle’s Nest to the bottom of the Little Eagle Lift (#15). Plans also entail removing existing modular buildings, re-vegetation work and the consolidation of trails and roads in the Adventure Ridge area to eliminate redundancies and enhance the aesthetics and ease-of-use for guests.
Vail Resorts is currently working through the planning process and hopes to begin some construction this fall with more construction to follow in the spring of 2012. New activities and enhancements to the Adventure Ridge areawould be operational next summer.
The Adventure Ridge enhancement proposal was submitted in April and includes upgrades and enhancements that were anticipated in the resort’s 2007 Master Development Plan. While the plans for Adventure Ridge are consistent with the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act, they are separate from the proposed Epic Discovery, a Summer Mountain Adventure, which is a broader summer expansion plan for Vail Mountain.
