Modest Mouse and The Head and The Heart will headline Vail Snow Days, in two nights of free concerts. Modest Mouse will perform on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 and The Head and The Heart headlining on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019. Vail Snow Days is the signature kick-off festival to the winter season Thursday, Dec. 12 through Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019.

Vail Resorts today announced that Executive Vice President Chris Jarnot will step down from his role, following an impressive 34-year career with Vail Resorts. With Jarnot’s transition, and in anticipation of the closing of the Peak Resorts acquisition, the Company has announced the creation of three new regional leadership roles to support Vail Resorts’ growing global portfolio.

Final Record of Decision Published for Vail Mountain’s Snowmaking Expansion Plan

The U.S. Forest Service has posted a final record of decision regarding Vail Mountain’s proposal to improve its existing snowmaking system and expand snowmaking on the upper-mountain. The first phase of the plan is expected to begin in summer 2019 and will consist of enhancing existing snowmaking in various locations on the mountain and providing new snowmaking capabilities, resulting in 192 acres of new and enhanced snowmaking infrastructure, including 65 acres of new snowmaking capabilities.

Final Record of Decision Published for Golden Peak Expansion Project

The U.S. Forest Service has posted a final record of decision regarding Vail Mountain’s proposal to expand race and training terrain at Golden Peak, which will double the training space utilized by Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) and provide access to additional terrain at higher elevations. The proposal, which was originally submitted to the U.S. Forest Service in 2014 and has undergone a comprehensive environmental review, will increase the size of Vail’s operational boundary by 68 acres, allowing for approximately 42 acres of additional trails, one surface lift and new snowmaking infrastructure. With these improvements, 760 vertical feet will be added to the venue, providing more than 1,500 vertical feet of racing and training terrain in total.

Vail Resorts Announces Mountain Division Leadership Changes

Vail Resorts today announced a number of leadership changes to take place in its mountain division this spring. Doug Lovell, vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain will retire from his position effective May 1, 2019. Beth Howard, vice president and chief operating officer of Beaver Creek Resort, will succeed Lovell, while Nadia Guerriero, vice president and general manager of Northstar California Resort, will be promoted to vice president and chief operating officer at Beaver Creek Resort to succeed Howard. These changes will also occur on May 1, 2019, and the search for Guerriero’s replacement at Northstar will begin immediately.
