Soak up Spring Sun in the #TahoeTrifecta: Bluebird Days, Live Music, Outdoor Après

Spring is nearly here, meaning longer days and more time for the sun to shine. Thanks to a strong start to the winter, with more than 16-feet of snow at each resort, the #TahoeTrifecta (Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood) are well set up to welcome springtime skiing and riding with bluebird days, outdoor après, food and drink specials, and lively events.

Vail Resorts Takes Precautions for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

All Vail Resorts properties are operating normally. The health and wellbeing of our employees and guests is our top priority. As a part of that commitment, Vail Resorts is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization’s (WHO) statements regarding novel coronavirus (COVID-2019) and following the guidelines from these agencies, as well as from local health departments where we operate resorts in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Significant Terrain Opening for Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar

This week, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort will continue to open additional terrain prior to the weekend. Each resort has received more than 4-feet of snow in December alone, with Kirkwood receiving more than 6-feet of snow this month. Heavenly will open the California side of the resort on Wednesday, Kirkwood plans to open 100% of skiable terrain beginning Friday, and Northstar plans to add additional terrain on Mt. Pluto.

Fresh Snow Highlights Northstar and Kirkwood 2019-20 Opening Days

Today, Northstar California Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort welcomed the 2019-20 winter season, after each receiving over two-feet of fresh snow in the last week. A winter wonderland of elevated family fun greeted guests at Northstar, while skiers and riders at Kirkwood dropped into their winter flow with fresh snow falling and 7-inches of new snow received in the last 24 hours.

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort Announce Updates to Start of 2019-20 Season

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort today announced updated opening days, originally set for Friday, Nov. 22, due to unusually warm November weather that limited snowmaking production. Heavenly will target Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Northstar will target Friday, Nov. 29 to open for skiing and snowboarding. Kirkwood will announce an opening date in the coming days.

Snowmaking begins in Tahoe, Opening Day Celebrations set for Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood

Cold temperatures and dry air have created ideal conditions for making snow in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The start of snowmaking is an exciting reminder that opening day celebrations at all three resorts, collectively known as the #TahoeTrifecta, are right around the corner.

Hundreds of Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood Employees Volunteer for 10th Annual EpicPromise Week

To celebrate Vail Resort’s 10th year of EpicPromise Week, more than 300 employees combined volunteered hundreds of hours with local community programs focused on youth, education and the environment. This year, EpicPromise volunteers from Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort contributed to four different projects around Lake Tahoe.

Vail Resorts Announces Mountain Division Leadership Changes

Vail Resorts today announced that Executive Vice President Chris Jarnot will step down from his role, following an impressive 34-year career with Vail Resorts. With Jarnot’s transition, and in anticipation of the closing of the Peak Resorts acquisition, the Company has announced the creation of three new regional leadership roles to support Vail Resorts’ growing global portfolio.
