Heavenly Recognized With Safety Awareness Award

The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) recently honored Heavenly Mountain Resort with one of its annual National Ski Area Safety Awards. Heavenly won the Best Safety Week Program, given to the resort that did the best job of educating employees and guests about skiing and snowboarding responsibly.  Heavenly shared this honor with Vail Mountain.

“Our Safety Week program was an amazing collaboration of departments across the resort that really involved the guest and delivered the message that safe skiing and snowboarding is everyone’s responsibility,” said Pete Sonntag, vice-president and general manager of Heavenly. “There is an almost fanatic culture of safety here at Heavenly and this award is proof to the guest that we are 100 percent committed to their well being.”

Heavenly was selected from a pool of over 30 applications. With the theme “Safety is Your Responsibility,” Heavenly’s Safety Week program featured a full week of fun and educational events, including tours of the new Prinoth Beast grooming machines and a CALSTAR air ambulance, avalanche dog demonstrations, and a scavenger hunt that tested guests’ knowledge of the Skier Responsibility Code.
