Heavenly Mountain Resort plans to open on Friday, Nov. 20 with a focus on the pass holder early-season experience. For the first time in over a decade, the resort will open with skiing and riding on the California side of the resort, including the iconic Ridge Run.

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort today announced they will open for select summer activities in July. Kirkwood Mountain Resort will have human-powered activities (no lift access) available to guests, similar as years past. The resorts shared operating plans as well as their commitment to safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unwaveringly and without question, our top priority is the health and wellbeing of our guests and employees. We are fortunate to have strong partnerships with the communities where we operate and we are closely monitoring the statements and following the guidance and recommendations from local, state/provincial and federal health agencies on cases of COVID-19.

Spring is nearly here, meaning longer days and more time for the sun to shine. Thanks to a strong start to the winter, with more than 16-feet of snow at each resort, the #TahoeTrifecta (Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood) are well set up to welcome springtime skiing and riding with bluebird days, outdoor après, food and drink specials, and lively events.

All Vail Resorts properties are operating normally. The health and wellbeing of our employees and guests is our top priority. As a part of that commitment, Vail Resorts is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization’s (WHO) statements regarding novel coronavirus (COVID-2019) and following the guidelines from these agencies, as well as from local health departments where we operate resorts in the United States, Canada and Australia.

This week, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort will continue to open additional terrain prior to the weekend. Each resort has received more than 4-feet of snow in December alone, with Kirkwood receiving more than 6-feet of snow this month. Heavenly will open the California side of the resort on Wednesday, Kirkwood plans to open 100% of skiable terrain beginning Friday, and Northstar plans to add additional terrain on Mt. Pluto.

Today, Northstar California Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort welcomed the 2019-20 winter season, after each receiving over two-feet of fresh snow in the last week. A winter wonderland of elevated family fun greeted guests at Northstar, while skiers and riders at Kirkwood dropped into their winter flow with fresh snow falling and 7-inches of new snow received in the last 24 hours.

Today, Heavenly Mountain Resort welcomed the 2019-20 winter season with 11-inches of fresh snow, setting the stage for a festive opening day celebration. Throughout the day, skiers and riders were treated to live music, complimentary donuts, hot chocolate, coffee, après samples, swag giveaways, tunes from the DJ Cat and first turns of the season.

Heavenly Mountain Resort will open for the 2019-20 winter season on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Heavenly Village Gondola and Tamarack Express chairlift will open at 9 a.m., providing access to beginner and intermediate skiing and snowboarding. Upper California Trail to Tamarack Return will be open via Tamarack Express, as well as the Bear Cave Carpet for beginner skiers and riders. Heavenly’s Ski and Ride School will be open for beginner lessons.

Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar California Resort today announced updated opening days, originally set for Friday, Nov. 22, due to unusually warm November weather that limited snowmaking production. Heavenly will target Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Northstar will target Friday, Nov. 29 to open for skiing and snowboarding. Kirkwood will announce an opening date in the coming days.
