With a coating of new snow and the hard work of the resort snowmaking team, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is set to open for the winter season on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019.

“Our teams have been working hard since the end of last season to make upgrades across the resort and get the mountain ready for our winter guests, and we can’t wait to get the ski season underway at Crested Butte,” said Tim Baker, vice president and general manager of CBMR. “We look forward to the upcoming forecast, and our mountain operations teams will be working to continue to expand and open terrain as soon as we can safely do so.”

Beginning on Wednesday, the resort will offer skiing and riding on more than 50 acres of beginner-level terrain accessible by the Red Lady Express, the Peachtree Lift and the Aspen and Pine carpets.

Rally to Teocalli for the First Ride on the New Chair
On Friday, CBMR will unveil the new 4-passenger Teocalli Lift for the season at 10 a.m. Resort leaders will host a banner-breaking for the new chair prior to opening the lift to skiers and riders for the first time. Free commemorative pins will be handed out to guests taking their first ride on the new Teocalli lift. The new lift will increase uphill capacity by more than 50 percent and provide more convenient access to terrain on the front side of the mountain as well as some of the resort’s best tree skiing.

Upon Vail Resorts acquisition of Triple Peaks (Crested Butte, Okemo and Mount Sunapee) and Steven’s Pass, Vail Resorts committed to investing $35 million in the four resorts over the next two years. Some of those investments are coming to life at CBMR this winter season with the replacement of the Teocalli Lift as well as the introduction of Vail Resorts’ EpicMix and EpicMix Time. In addition, CBMR has invested in maintenance across the resort with upgrades to existing lifts and resort snowmaking.

Opening Day Community Giving Celebration
This year the resort is continuing the spirit of the former ‘Donation Day’ with a new Opening Day Community Giving Celebration, a tradition that will continue annually. This year’s Community Giving Celebration will benefit the local Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation (CBSF), and Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise will match donations to contribute up to an additional $10,000 to the local organization. Donations to support CBSF as a part of the Community Giving Celebration can be made now through 4 p.m. on opening day, Wednesday, Nov. 27. Locals and guests are encouraged to visit CrestedButteSnowsports.org and select the Opening Day Campaign to make a donation online. Donations can also be made in person on opening day at the CBSF tent in the base area.

Early Season Conditions
Early season conditions exist and CBMR requires skiers and riders to observe all posted signs and warnings. Closed trails may contain hazards due to limited natural snow coverage and snowmaking operations. For the safety of all guests, please keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. Accessing closed terrain is a violation of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and will result in the loss of skiing privileges and could involve prosecution and a fine.

Epic Pass deadline extended to Dec. 2
To celebrate more resorts opening this week, and the amazing conditions forecast across the country heading into the holiday weekend, Vail Resorts is extending the Epic Pass deadline to Dec. 2 to give pass holders more time to lock in their Epic Pass, new Epic Day Pass or any products in the Epic Pass portfolio. With Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone open and Crested Butte set to open on Nov. 27, the 2019-20 season is officially off to an exciting start.
