Breckenridge Ascent Series kicks off its second year Jan. 12, 2011
  • First race is next week during Ullr Fest
  • Increased to five races this season
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. –Jan. 7, 2010 – Breckenridge Ski Resort and Breckenridge Recreation Department announced today the schedule for the second annual Breck Ascent Series. This year two more races have been added, resulting in five hill climb races with a mix of courses on Peaks 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the Breckenridge Ski Resort. The timed race consists of just the ascent; use any kind of way to get up the mountain, but skis or a snowboard is required to come back down.
 
The race schedule is as follows:
Race #1: January 12th, 6:15 AM - Gondola Ski Back to Vista Haus
Race #2: February 16th @ 6:15AM – Lower Lehman to Peak 10
Race #3: March 16th @ 5:30PM - Dukes
Race #4: April 6th @ 5:30PM – TBD (Peak 9 or 10)
Race #5: April 20 @ 5:30PM – TBD (Peak 9 or 10)
 
Registration for the series is now open at Breckenridge Recreation Center, 880 Airport Road; Mountain Outfitters, 112 South Ridge Street and online at www.breckenridgerecreation.com. Pre-registration is available for $17, race-day registration is $22. Participants ages 18 and younger race for free, but must have a parent sign a release. Registration for the entire five-race series is available for only $75 prior to the first face of the series.
