Help Epic Mountain Express Fill the Van on Saturday, Nov. 3
  • The 2017 Fill the Van drive collected more than $12,000 in cash and more than 27,000 pounds in food donations for Colorado food banks
EDWARDS, Colo., Nov. 1, 2018 – Epic Mountain Express will host its 21st Annual “Fill the Van” food drive on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., when thousands of pounds of food will be collected across Colorado’s mountain communities for food banks. Epic Mountain Express vans will be parked outside of grocery stores throughout Summit County and Eagle County and Colorado Mountain Express vans will be at Roaring Fork Valley collection sites.

As part of the joint fundraising effort between Epic Mountain Express, Vail Resorts EpicPromise, the Vail, Avon, and Eagle Police Departments, and Eagle County Sheriff’s Department, the collected donations will remain in the county in which they were donated. Beneficiaries include the Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) and Father Dyer Food Bank in Summit County, Vail Valley Salvation Army, and Lift Up! in the Roaring Fork Valley.

“For more than two decades, Fill the Van has helped stock the local food bank pantries to support those in need,” said Nathan Drechsler, general manager of Epic Mountain Express. “We’re looking forward to another successful drive this year and encourage community members across the mountain regions to support this food collection effort, especially as we prepare for the holiday season.”

Collection sites for food and monetary donations include:

Summit County
  • Breckenridge – City Market
  • Dillon – City Market
 Eagle County
  • Avon – City Market
  • Avon – Wal-Mart
  • Eagle – City Market
  • Edwards – Village Market
  • Vail – City Market
  • Vail – Safeway
Roaring Fork Valley
  • Aspen – City Market
  • Glenwood Springs – City Market

In addition to Saturday's collections, Eagle County police departments and emergency responders will visit local schools to collect donations on Friday, Nov. 2. Teachers and school administrators set forth a challenge to each grade to collect the most food.

Vail Resorts, Epic Mountain Express’s parent company, is also participating in Fill the Van food drive at its Broomfield headquarters on Nov. 9. All donations from this effort will benefit Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver. Each year, departments compete against each other in an attempt to collect the most donations from employees. As the company’s social responsibility and environmental stewardship program, EpicPromise enables Vail Resorts to preserve and care for its communities and the natural environments surrounding its resorts.
