Vail Resorts Names Jody Churich New Keystone Resort General Manager
Share:

BROOMFIELD, Colo.—September 26, 2019—Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) today announced that Jody Churich, previously senior director of skier services at Park City Mountain Resort, will assume the role of vice president and general manager at Keystone Resort, effective October 15. The appointment follows the August announcement that Geoff Buchheister would be transitioning from his role as Keystone’s general manager to serve as the new chief operating officer at Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada.

“Jody has spent much of her career igniting a passion for winter sports in kids of all ages – making her an incredible fit at Keystone, a resort centered around helping children and families discover the magic of playing in the mountains,” said Bill Rock, senior vice president and chief operating officer of the newly-created Rocky Mountain region of Vail Resorts. “Jody is a very well-regarded leader in our industry, with a broad depth and breadth of experience across mountain operations, sales and marketing, as well as a proven track-record of leadership excellence. I’m confident she’ll be a terrific partner within the Summit County community and continue to build on the momentum Keystone has had in recent years.”

Churich has been on the senior leadership team at Park City Mountain Resort since 2018. Previously, she served as the chief operating officer for Woodward Camps, owned by POWDR, a role she held since 2013. Churich has more than 20 years’ experience in the ski industry, starting as a ski instructor.

“I could not be more excited to join Keystone, a resort with an incredible reputation for creating an experience of a lifetime for so many kids and families,” said Churich. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the resorts’ passionate employees, loyal guests and dedicated community as we head into another exciting winter season.”

Jody and her husband, Barry, who currently works as a leader in parks and recreation management will be relocating from Park City, Utah to Summit County, Colo.  Jody and Barry have two sons, both recent graduates from the University of Oregon.

As the 2019-20 winter season nears, Keystone is positioned to be one of the first resorts to open in Colorado and the U.S. thanks to upgrades in the resort’s snowmaking operation. A state-of-the-art, automated, energy-efficient system will assist the resort to operate more productively in narrow early-season snowmaking windows. Annually, Keystone will plan to be one of the first resorts to open in October and Breckenridge will plan to operate through Memorial Day. Combined, the two resorts will offer one of the longest ski seasons in the country, providing even more value for our Epic Pass holders.
