MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Jan. 12, 2019 – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) opened for the 2018-19 winter season on Nov. 22, 2018, but for many advanced skiers and riders, the official start to Crested Butte’s winter season is the opening of the resort’s famed Extreme Limits terrain. Following the seasonal opening of the High Lift on Jan. 7, CBMR is excited to announce that the North Face Lift is set to open today.

With the opening of the North Face Lift, CBMR now has all of its chairlifts open for the season including access to 1,249 acres of open ski and snowboard terrain. Terrain in today’s opening includes: The Glades, Hawks Nest, Last Steep, The North Face, Pinball, Rachel’s and select other runs.

“After a great High Lift opening on Monday, our Ski Patrol and mountain operations teams were able to shift their focus to preparing the North Face for another outstanding and safe opening,” says Tim Baker, general manager of CBMR. “Crested Butte Mountain Resort now has all chairlifts open for the season, and we look forward to offering the famous inbounds terrain off of our two T-Bars.”

Season-to-date, CBMR has already received more snow than mid-February of last year, with nearly nine feet of snow season-to-date. This season’s plentiful snowfall allows CBMR to open both the High Lift and North Face Lift on one of their earliest dates in recent years.

The mountain operations and ski patrol teams will continue to monitor the snowpack in an effort to prepare for additional terrain openings. Skiers and riders are encouraged to stay tuned to the resort’s website for snow and terrain updates: www.skicb.com/snow.

All guests are reminded that they must observe all posted signs, closures and slow zones. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage. Accessing closed terrain is a violation of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and will result in the loss of skiing privileges and could involve prosecution and a fine.
