Colorado Resorts Blanketed With Nearly Three Feet of Snow in the Past Week, Setting the Stage for Great Spring Skiing
  • Nearly three feet of snow has fallen at Beaver Creek and Vail while Breckenridge received 28 inches and Keystone was walloped with nearly 20 inches in the past week.
VAIL, Colo. – Feb 22, 2010 – Mother Nature continues to show Colorado the love in February with 10 straight days of snowfall. The cold temperatures and frequency of snow in the past week have made for great skiing and riding conditions. February snowstorms have historically set the stage for an epic spring and the ski resorts of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone are offering mountains of ways to save money and enjoy a spring vacation on the slopes. Ice Music at the Crystal Grotto
Visit North America’s only on-mountain igloo music hall and experience the enchanting sounds musical notes from ice instruments. Beaver Creek’s Crystal Grotto offers weekly concerts every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. plus select Fridays. Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased on a cash-only basis in resort; a lift ticket or valid ski pass is required and foot passes are $14 per adult or $4 per child. The 3 p.m. Saturday performance is free for kids 12 and under each week. www.beavercreek.com

Vail Bud Light Street Beat Concert Series
"Off your seat and into the street" is the winter rallying cry of Vail Valley locals and guests alike as the Bud Light Street Beat free concert series continues in 2010 to chase away both the chill of winter and the hump-day blues. The show this Wednesday, Feb. 24 gets under way at Solaris in Vail Village at 6 p.m. with jam rock band Stockholm Syndrome, featuring Widespread Panic bass player Dave Schools and acclaimed singer/songwriter Jerry Joseph of the Jackmormons. Hope on the Slopes at Breckenridge Ski Resort
Hope on the Slopes returns to Breckenridge Ski Resort for a second year! This event provides avid skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to make their day of skiing or riding more meaningful by raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society, the nation’s #1 non-profit contributor of funds for cancer research. Participants of Hope on the Slopes will be raising awareness across our Breckenridge slopes either as teams or individuals in a competitive family atmosphere with opportunities to win prizes. The Keystone Winter Culinary Festival
After a successful first year, the culinary festival returns. Guests will experience a sampling of local specialties from Keystone’s award-winning restaurants including the Keystone Ranch, Ski Tip Lodge, Alpenglow Stube and more! Wine tastings, food-related classes, chocolate tastings, and a grand tasting event are some of the culinary festivities throughout the weekend. Vail Mountain She Skis
A Women-Only Testing Clinic is organized by SKI Magazine’s former women’s ski test director Krista Crabtree for intermediate and advanced female skiers. Aimed at enhancing equipment knowledge and technique through testing of next season’s women’s-specific skis, participants in the three-day clinic team up in small groups with top female pros. Atomic, Dynastar, Fischer, K2, Nordica, Rossignol and Volkl brands are all included in the testing, covering Vail’s extensive and diverse terrain. Feb. 26-28, 2010. www.vail.com  

Breckenridge Resort Women’s Ski and Snowboard Camp
Play hooky for a few days and join the ladies for a special getaway. Spend three full days on the slopes as you advance your skiing techniques and learn in this supportive, female-only environment. Prices include lunches, a welcome reception, a cocktail party, a free gift and a celebration dinner. Open to intermediate through advanced skiers and snowboarders. Breckenridge Ascent Series
Take on a different kind of challenge this winter with the NEW Breckenridge Ascent Series, presented by Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Breckenridge Recreation Department. Join us for three evening hillclimb events, all starting at the bottom of Peak 8 and finishing at the Vista Haus.
