Vail Resorts Announces Plans for Historic Investment and New Gondola at Whistler Blackcomb to Further Enhance the Guest Experience for the 2018-19 Season

Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) today announced that the Company plans to make an historic investment of CAD$66 million (USD$52 million) at Whistler Blackcomb this season focusing on three new lifts at the heart of the resort. This transformative investment features the addition of a new gondola on the Blackcomb side of the mountain, as well as several other lift infrastructure upgrades, providing quicker, easier access to all levels of terrain. The plan also represents the largest single-year capital investment program in the resort’s history, and the Company’s decision to accelerate the mountain improvements included in the Renaissance plan, while deferring consideration of the new water park.

WHISTLER BLACKCOMB IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS ON NOV. 17TH

Whistler Blackcomb will be opening six days ahead of schedule on Friday, November 17. A streak of cold temperatures allowed for prime snowmaking conditions and with a favourable weather forecast calling for 50 centimetres of snow in the next three days, the decision to open Whistler Mountain was made.

WHISTLER MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK CREEKSIDE ZONE EXPANSION UNDERWAY

After many years in the planning and approval process, crews finally broke ground on 15 kilometres of new mountain biking trails in the Creekside Zone of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Once complete, the first phase of the Creekside expansion will include five new trails, designed to appeal to a variety of ability levels and riding styles, and will increase the amount of lift accessible riding in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park by 20 per cent. It is anticipated that all five new Creekside trails will be ready to ride for next summer’s planned opening of the Creekside Gondola in June 2018.

As Much as Six Feet of New Snow Delivered in the Last Week to Top Ski Resorts Across the Western United States

The New Year has resolved to deliver massive amounts of snow across ski resorts in the western United States, with as much as six feet falling in the last week. A heavy band of snow is expected to continue falling today across the mountains throughout the day, including Colorado’s Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek Resort, Breckenridge and Keystone; Utah’s Park City Mountain; and the Lake Tahoe Region’s Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
