WHISTLER, BC – October 2, 2018 – With the 2018-19 season quickly approaching, more than 11,000 Epic SchoolKids Packs have been given to young skiers and riders across Canada and Washington State and registration for Whistler Blackcomb’s Epic SchoolKids program is still open until Sunday, October 7. Epic Schoolkids offers Canadian and Washington State children in kindergarten to Grade 5 up to five free days of skiing and riding at Whistler Blackcomb. For kids new to skiing and snowboarding, Epic SchoolKids also offers one free lesson with one free rental. Enrollment for the Epic Schoolkids program is available at www.epicschoolkids.com/whistlerblackcomb. The program is open to children of all levels of skiing or snowboarding ability.

The addition of the Epic SchoolKids program in Canada and Washington State has led to unprecedented growth of the popular program which also is also available in Colorado and Utah. Vail Resorts expects these numbers to continue to grow before the enrollment period ends.

“The Epic SchoolKids program provides great value for families already involved in skiing or snowboarding who would like to do more, and offers a great opportunity to get first-timers out on the snow. We are thrilled to see such a strong response going into the 2018/19 season and look forward to seeing everyone on the mountain this winter,” said Pete Sonntag, chief operating officer at Whistler Blackcomb.

For parents looking to join their children on the slopes this program pairs perfectly with parents interested in purchasing a 5 Day EDGE Card. EDGE Cards offer deeply discounted days to use during the winter at Whistler Blackcomb, plus exclusive on-mountain perks and benefits. A five-day EDGE Card is currently CAD$489, without restrictions, while a two-day EDGE Card is currently CAD$239 without restrictions. Sunday, October 7 is the last chance to buy before prices go up for the entire suite of EDGE Card options.

With just over 8,100 acres, Whistler Blackcomb offers terrain for all levels from alpine bowls to our family learning zones. The Epic SchoolKids program allows families to access North America’s largest mountain resort like never before with a new CAD$66 million lift upgrade. Opening for the 2018/19 winter season, the upgrade includes a 10 person gondola and new high speed quad chair on Blackcomb Mountain plus a high speed 6 person chair at the heart of our Emerald family learning zone on Whistler Mountain. These upgrades will improve guest flow around the mountains and means fewer lines, more skiing and riding. Whistler Blackcomb’s 2018/19 winter season opens on November 22, 2018.

No purchase is necessary to take advantage of the Epic SchoolKids program. Proof of Canadian and Washington State residency is required as well as some restrictions during holiday and peak periods. Registration concludes Sunday, October 7.  For more information about Epic SchoolKids, or to register online, please visit www.epicschoolkids.com/whistlerblackcomb.
